Acerca de esta escucha

In this era, natural disasters are becoming ever more frequent. As the greenhouse effect warms the earth, the situation is indeed worrisome. Only when hearts are purified can this ecological crisis be mitigated. Only when hearts are united and working as one can the suffering be saved. We must seize time, space, and interpersonal relationships to actively create blessings. In recent years, Dharma Master Cheng Yen has been worrying about erratic climate changes and various natural and manmade disasters. Master Cheng Yen suggests we should cherish our lives, this world, and our relationships with others. This book contains Master’s teachings on the importance of seizing the time to benefit others. The state of the earth’s ecology is truly very worrisome. If we wish to mitigate this ecological crisis, we must first purify our minds. We must all unite and work together to help those who are suffering. We must seize the opportunity to make good use of time and space, and inspire others to do good deeds. In Buddhism, we think of time in three stages: past, present, and future, or yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Time has neither beginning nor end. Even what we think of as the past has more past before it. How do we seize the present and the limitless future? When in school, we must take hold of time to study wholeheartedly, pay full attention in class, and accumulate academic achievements. This is time’s accumulation of academic success. It is the same with business: if one can take hold of time to manage a business attentively, he will achieve business success through time. Likewise, in spiritual cultivation, we must seize every moment to practice towards enlightenment. We should make good use of our time to benefit others. With today’s advanced technology, we are connected to the entire world wherever we are. We cannot begrudge our time, stress only our own needs, and care only for our immediate surroundings. Rather, we should be concerned with world affairs and the well-being of all sentient beings. Space is the environment we inhabit. The Earth on which we live is the common home of all sentient beings. We must broaden our minds and step out from our personal spaces to help and care for one another. Steadily extend kindness and expand great love with each step. When we utilize time and space to the fullest, we will have a positive outlook on life. Nature continually presents new challenges to humanity. In the tug-of-war between good and evil, each individual’s power is limited and a small group has only meager strength. To face these challenges, everyone must work together in unison. With strength in numbers, blessings will flourish. To achieve this, we must create good affinities with others and give diligently. If we use our time to do good deeds and positively influence one another through our interactions, then the selfless love in our hearts will spread. This will encourage people to join hands and hearts and purify their minds. Therefore, we must give more of ourselves so that disasters in the world will cease and peace and harmony will come to all.
