 This is a book about Spiritual Meat. While that may sound like a subject that should be left to the scholars and intellectual, it is really for anyone who wants to do all they can for the KIngdom of God and are willing to pay the price it requires. The Book takes a close look at a sea side meeting that Jesus had with His disciples. As fishermen/disciples return from a night of unsuccessful fishing on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus is on the shore with a meal of bread and fish. His call to them as they approached was, "Children, do you have any meat?" While this may have seemed like a casual question about how the fishing trip went, it was really a probing inquiry meant to cue up their spiritual interest. Jesus had meat of His own and He wanted to impart it to them... and it was more than the fish on the fire. But the need the original disciples had is still a vital ingredient for those in our day who want to do what God has called them to. The meat of God is the most difficult of spiritual food to digest and it is not meant for the immature. While spiritual milk brings people into the Kingdom through God's salvation plan, and spiritual bread builds them up after they are part of that Kingdom, spiritual meat is required to launch men and women into the arena of service and self-sacrifice. This intimate meeting with His disciples on the shore was one of the last meetings that he would have with them and He needed to instill some very important understandings into them, as well as to heal some of the pain from past mistakes... especially for one... the one who was called to be the leader of those who the Lord left to reach the world with the Gospel. Read this book if you are ready to let the will of God become your spiritual meat, but be ready to carry your own cross because that is what the Master requires.
