Acerca de esta escucha
Beneath the quiet streets of Ellinwood, Kansas, lies a forgotten world—a sprawling underground city built in the late 1800s. Once a hub of activity, the tunnels connected brothels, saloons, gambling dens, barber shops, and even a harness store. Though most of this hidden network is now sealed off, parts remain open to the public, offering a glimpse into the town’s bawdy and bustling past. My sister Cathy and I explored the tunnels and toured the historic Wolf Hotel, which sits atop the underground passages. The hotel, while beautifully preserved, has its own ghost stories—most notably the spirit of a man who took his own life in the dining room in 1927. While we expected history, we didn’t expect the sudden cold spots, the odd feeling of being watched, or the lingering sadness in the air. For lovers of haunted history like us, Ellinwood was unforgettable—equal parts fascinating, eerie, and unexpectedly emotional.
Today, on the Grave Talks, the historic Wolf Hotel and what’s below it, with Amanda Coots, paranormal investigator and historian at the Wolf Hotel.
