Acerca de esta escucha
We're all massive Sunderland supporters, so can you imagine playing for the club, being on the bench and in the training ground every day amongst the players that you idolise? Simon Ramsden got to live out that dream, and he's here to tell us all about it!
- Before we get going, Simon tells us about something very serious that is close to his heart - he's taking part in a mammoth training session that will last 37 hours in memory of his friend and former Rochdale teammate Joe Thompson, who sadly lost his life to cancer earlier this year. Simon's fundraising page, raising money for Joe's two young children, can be found here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/simon-ramsden-37
- Simon talks about his upbringing at Sunderland, coming through the youth system...
- Tales of Peter Reid, Bally and co.
- Playing in the ressies and how youth players have it easy nowadays!
- Leaving on loan, and then playing for Mick McCarthy
- Being released and having to start again elsewhere
- His time at Bradford, Rochdale, Motherwell, Gateshead and (not) Whitby
- Going to games as a fan (we don't think he likes Newcastle very much)
