Project 2025 is the plan that Donald Trump would implement on day one of a second term. It's been in the works for years. Axios reporting describes the plan as “Trump's imperial presidency in waiting.” Trump now denies knowing anything about it, so you know he's lying. His own staff has been involved in writing the plan. Trump has publicly endorsed the Heritage Foundation and project leader Kevin Roberts.

Trump and his allies would turn the Justice Department against critics, fire tens of thousands of civil servants, criminalize abortion, take the word “abortion” out of all laws and regulations, remove protections for the environment, and eliminate the Department of Education in order to privatize it. In fact, ending support for public education is a lynchpin for indoctrination into the cult of the leader. In public schools, various cultures in a community meet up. Students learn to respect each other as well as to question authority. To protect “parental rights,” they want to send their children to private, religious schools funded by taxpayer money in the form of vouchers. (Another option–not available to the poor–is homeschooling.) Supporters want a very limited set of ideas to challenge their children, and none that challenge, dear leader. Hungary, a new member of the illiberal democracy club, has employed this model.

Project 2025 is a terrifying blueprint for an authoritarian takeover.

It seeks to strip women's reproductive freedoms with a nationwide abortion ban, impose draconian border policies, and reinstate family separations and mass deportations. It calls for rolling back environmental protections, opening national parks to oil drilling, and undermining LGBTQ rights.

This agenda attacks democracy, justice, and equality.
