Built in the 1800s and once used as a Civil War prison, the fort is filled with eerie energy. Visitors have reported ghostly apparitions, voices echoing through the empty halls, and sudden cold spots under the blazing sun. Some say the ghost of Dr. Samuel Mudd, imprisoned here after treating Lincoln’s assassin, still walks the grounds. History and hauntings collide on this haunted island fortress.
