 Only a few days ago I heard a nice story of how God answered the prayers of a little child only nine years of age. She had trusted in Christ, and God had given her a praying heart. Her father was not a Christian; far from it, he was an infidel. He tried not to believe what the Bible says about our Saviour's death and sufferings for us. She was in the habit of remaining every Sunday in the Sunday-school room after the morning service, that she might pray alone to God. One day, when the weather was severely cold, and the wind blowing hard, her father was afraid she would not get home alone, so he set off to meet her. He met the rest of the scholars on their way home, but his own dear child was not among them. With an anxious heart he pressed his way to the schoolroom. All was still. He cautiously opened the door, and in a moment he heard the voice of his little daughter in earnest pleading prayer. Her cry was, "O God, have mercy upon papa; show him that he is a sinner, lead him to Jesus, make him a true Christian!" There stood the father, not knowing what to do. God at once answered her prayer. Her father felt himself a lost sinner, he walked softly to the side of his dear child, and threw his arms around her. In a few weeks, with his little daughter, he was enabled to rejoice in the love of Jesus. He saw that He was what He professed to be, the Son of God, and the only Saviour for guilty sinners like himself. He is now an active Christian, doing all he can to lead others to that Saviour whom he once hated. If you, too, have a praying heart, you will, like this little girl, find some place where you can often be alone with your Bible and with Jesus. And so, if Jesus has raised you to a new life of faith and love, I am sure you will often wish to speak with Him and tell Him all your wants. "Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you." What sweet words those are in Isaiah xl. II, about the Good Shepherd: "He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom." Oh then, trust in Him, cling to Him, study His word, work for Him, join yourself to His people, and you will thus keep fast hold of happiness, the fourth link of the Golden Chain. And finally, you will reach the last link. Heaven; and when once you are in that blessed place, you will feel more deeply than you can now, that Jesus was of a truth the "CHILD'S GUIDE TO HEAVEN."
