Despite the dangers and opposition they would face, Jesus reassured them of God’s presence and promised eternal reward for their faithfulness.Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs to preach the Gospel and heal, emphasizing the revolutionary nature of their mission. This strategy of evangelism, involving the disciples as representatives of Christ, was reiterated and expanded upon throughout Jesus’ ministry, culminating in the Great Commission. Christian disciples today are called to continue this work of world evangelism, not as an optional accessory, but as the heartbeat of their faith and the purpose of the church.
