Have you ever quit on something that you know was important to you? I want you to take a minute to think about the question above. Be sincere with yourself because, as cruel as it seems, we have all quit on certain things that were important to us. At some point in our lives, we have quit on things that were good to us. What do I mean that they were good to us? I am glad that you asked. Let me give you a few examples so that I can hone in on them for you. At some point, we have quit on: - A good relationship - Exercising - Eating the right foods with the right nutrients - Good friends - Our studies - Projects - Tasks - Programs - Goals - Dreams - Our family - Jobs As we can see from the list above, we have become masters at quitting the wrong stuff. We have become masters at quitting the things that bring value into our lives, the things that will make a difference at some point if we stick to them. And there are many possible reasons why we end up quitting at things, mainly the good ones. Some of the reasons might be because: - There is not a true compromise to what we set out to do. I mean, how committed are we to start something and finish it? Remember that if the WHY is not strong, we will subconsciously quit before we start. - We do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have been exercising for a couple of months, and we do not see any changes or results. We feel like a failure because we have been working at it and the results expected are not there YET. - We tend to delay working on the right things. We think that there is always going to be a tomorrow, and we procrastinate based on that idea. But as we all know, tomorrow is not guaranteed. - We are doing it alone. Sometimes we start working with someone on a project or a business plan, and all of a sudden, the other person decides to leave us all alone. We come to the wrong conclusion that we cannot do it on our own, that we need a pal to be with us because doing it all by ourselves will be impossible. - We listen to the wrong people. We listen to naysayers. We listen to people who are only there to steal our dreams, ideas, and goals. - We do not have a plan and things do not go as we thought they were going to go. We thought things were going to be shining as gold right away and then we realize that we were wrong. These reasons above are some of the reasons why we end up quitting the good things in our lives. The things that bring the most benefits and results. Throughout this book, I will cover some of the things WE SHOULD quit. If any of these things are present in your life, I urge you to QUIT them right away. Do not give them any more space in your life. You do not need them, and they are just stopping you from becoming the person you want to be.
