Another important question is whether this is a good time to start a small home repair business? Even though the economy has improved, and the unemployment rate is down, the job market is still poor. This is an excellent time to be a handy person. Owners are repairing their homes instead of purchasing new ones, and this creates an excellent market for your home repair skills. It used to be the Handyman business but now it's open to anyone.
Self-Employment?
Naturally, a home repair business is self-employment and you must consider everything that applies to other small businesses. Financial success depends on your suitability for self-employment. You must be a self-starter and not someone who requires a boss to watch over your activities and make certain you do them properly. In a one-person business, you are the owner, manager, accountant, receptionist, salesperson, home repair expert and cleanup person. Perhaps a wife, husband, or other relative or friend can help you with some of the work, but you manage all aspects of your business.
My book can help you decide and if you start it will help you deal with every issue that may arise. Everything is based entirely on my first-hand experience so I know it works. Thanks.
