Noah’s old friend Ten Crows (now “Otter” in his freedom) had shared his vision of the killers – perfectly describing the couple – but justice requires more.
Other killings in Mormon Basin, spur deeper investigation into the affairs of Dottie and Billy and their bar, boarding house, and prostitution operation. The sheriff of Baker City has sent for any information about the couple’s history in Louisiana. The investigation quietly continues.
The Hickmans carry on as best they can with ranching their cattle and highly prized Cayuse horses. Each member of the family carries a share of the load, while working toward his or her future.
