Acerca de esta escucha

For listeners tired of zombies comes a new kind of apocalypse. You can't run. You can't hide. They are everywhere.

Joe, a recent divorcee, takes his wrestling-mad son Danny to the zoo for his weekend of custody. Everything is going great until a bizarre snake attack sends everybody running for cover. A horrific scene, and one Joe's poor son is unlikely ever to forget...

But the terror has only just begun.

A simple snake attack is only the first incident in an unstoppable catastrophe. Something is causing animals to attack people... to think for themselves... to thirst for blood. Joe will need to overcome his fear quickly if he has any chance of keeping his son alive, because nowhere is safe anymore and help isn't coming.

This was a fun ride! I love the animals turning on humans vibe. It was different and so engaging. Worth a credit. I just wish it were longer

Fun story!!

A cool idea but trends more towards 'humans are the bad guys too' focusing on human conflict amidst animal carnage at the zoo. The animals feel a bit like background to compel conflict in a small group of humans. Occassionally the text highlights the wonder of the natural order on it's head in a way that's especially poetic. There is a claustrophobic siege setting with subplot of conflict in the bunker so the layering helps the pacing; it's a trial the leads to "an experience that will change them." In the end this visceral test of mettle hits well. Some of the characters are written too much as type and are sometimes not as relatable (it seems we should root for the hero and others are more plot devices). There is a mental health subplot that misrepresents antidepressants and feels a bit cheap. These decisions are puzzling because the 'animals attack' prompt feels could be a rich one to explore; but having animal fights nonstop could get flat and here there's a buildup. The narrator seems like a charming british fellow who engaged well and has nice range switching into an irish fellow to kid but some of his voices are occassionally corny.
