Acerca de esta escucha

Paula Freda, writing as Marianne Dora Rose, presents yet another Contemporary, Clean and Wholesome, Inspirational Suspense Romance for Hearts of All Ages. - Excerpt: It was perhaps ordained that Sister Anne of Our Lady, Mother of Jesus, Foundling Home should be the nun passing by the baby hatch door. Only three days ago, on Christmas Eve, a boy, barely a week old, had been left inside the hatch, sleeping quietly, wrapped in a small striped blue and white blanket, like the ones often seen in maternity wards. A sticky pad note on his blue onesie held only four words. Saint Expeditus protect him. A wonder, Sister Anne pondered, that the newborn felt warm to the touch, despite the harsh wintry night, as though arms had carried him cuddled tightly in a warm embrace before lifting the flap giving way to the adjoining hatch on the inside of the door and depositing the baby into the insulated interior, the soft gently heated bed setting off the sensors alerting the convent that the infant within needed the Sisters’ help. .... As Sister Anne opened the hatch, the current infant within squealed hungrily. Sister Anne encouraged, “Hold on, sweet child, hold on.” This infant, lay wrapped in a thick pink baby blanket inside a white wicker basket. Little fists fought to escape the heavy blanket. One escaped and reach the small hungry mouth. Sister Anne gently cupped the small fingers. Despite the blanket, these fingers were cold. Sister Anne thought, no one had clutched this child to their breast in a warm embrace on its way to the foundling home. - Excerpt: No couple chose to adopt MaryBeth. An infant screaming with terror at the touch of anyone outside of Sister Anne and a couple of the other sisters, was not a likely candidate for adoption. Neither was a growing child who leered at any one who looked at her with a fond desire to adopt as she clung to Sister Anne for dear life. By the time she had matured enough to possibly consider the potential adopters, she had grown too old and set in her ways, to entice them. All well and good, she thought on her eighteenth birthday, when the threat of adoption expired, and she was free to pursue her own life and choices. No surprise to Mother Superior or Sister Anne, that she chose to remain at the Foundling Home the only way she knew to avoid expulsion, by applying for employment in the Foundling Home. - Excerpt: “Dearest Max, please,” MaryBeth interrupted. She had to tell him the whole truth. “You’re not the only one who has proposed to me.” Max’s eyebrows narrowed. “Who? Where?” Quickly she added, “I live and work here in the Convent, but I do have a life outside. I’ve made friends. Good friends, kind and wholesome, that the Lord and the Sisters would approve of. I’ve even dated. Yours is my third proposal. And I haven’t accepted the other two either.” MaryBeth ached to place her arms about him in solace. But she held back. It wouldn’t do to encourage him. In fact, she surmised, it might be best to distance herself from him. “I think you should make new friends, date, find your soulmate.” Max entreated, “You’re my soulmate.” MaryBeth replied, “No, I’m not, Max. She’s out there somewhere, searching for you. You pray for me, and I’ll pray for you. We will find them.” He grew silent a moment, his features mirroring his discontent and sense of loss. “I stand no chance, then, of winning your love?” “Max, I will always love you. You are my dearest friend. And I promise to be there for you whenever and wherever you should need my help. Best friends, always.” He grew silent. Finally, he nodded. “Alright, I’ll respect your decision. No hard feelings, but I choose to love you forever, my soulmate. I’ll do you as you say.” He sighed heavily, his mission and its failure complete. “I’ll leave you now. I promise not to propose again. God Bless you MaryBeth. And whenever or wherever you should need my help, I’ll be there for you as well. Goodnight dearest friend.”
