Acerca de esta escucha

Aion is one of the major works of C.G. Jung's later years.

The title comes from the Greek word for aeon or age and refers to the age of Christianity, for, in Aion, Jung is concerned with the collective psychic development that the Christian era represents. How did it come about when it did? What psychic change did it represent? In exploring these questions, Jung (1875-1961) draws upon Christian symbolism and, in particular, the figure of Christ as a case study in the archetype of the Self.

The book begins with an account of the important concepts of the ego, the shadow and the anima/animus (here referred to as the syzygy). Jung then continues with his exploration of the Self archetype as represented through Christian symbolism and the figure of Christ. In particular, a discussion and critique of the Christian view of evil is provided. The symbolism of the fish, which recurs as a symbol of both Christ and of the devil, is examined in detail and a wide range of alchemical, pagan and gnostic material is drawn upon. The final chapter of the book proposes a model for the structure of the Self.

Aion is one of the most important volumes of the Collected Works and complements The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. Translated by R. F. C.Hull.

One of Jung’s final works and crowing achievements—essential listening for anyone interested in the interplay of psychology, philosophy, and religion. Works like this require several listens to really absorb, but this narrator has clearly connected with the material and makes the depth of Jung’s writing intelligible. I am so grateful to see so many of Jung’s works being recorded as audiobooks, as I believe his thought addresses many of the blind spots and shortcomings of modern psychology. This work is a glimpse into the late thoughts of one of the greatest psychological, philosophical, and religious thinkers of the modern age, expertly performed by a skilled narrator—I would highly recommend it!

Fantastic!

Will listen to it again. Connects a lot of dots to other areas that I have been exploring.

Definitely glad to have found this...

Very rich comparison between psychological analysis of the self archetype & the biochemical analysis of matter and parallel features of the processes. This takes us from the complex back to the simple and is a repeating process occurring as a daily life force thus the uroboris symbol.

Alchemy Explained

A bit though and academic, but layered with bottomless insight. A tome of wisdom indeed.

Jungs magnus opus

Best reading of Jung by Ukemi Audiobooks. The voice actor did a magnificent job, his intonation added a great deal and very significantly all non-english words were well pronounced, avoiding any confusion.
As far as the text itself, it is definitely challenging, however a must read for all interested in Jung.

Wonderful reading

Difficult material to follow at times, but well worth the listen. May also be worth a second read in hard copy format.

Breathtaking and phenomenal

I always wanted to read Jung’s Aion and it was a pleasure hearing this narrator David Rintoul brings it to life! He is my new favorite Audible narrator. I hope he will also read Jung’s “Answer to Job”, Psychology and Alchemy” and “Mysterium Coniunctionis”

Aion is a abstract opus worth undertaking with David Rintoul

This is one of the most important works of both spirituality and psychology. It clearly articulates the nature of the self and bring its purpose and function into view. Without this knowledge the individual is a rudderless ship on a hostile ocean, unable to observe the winds much less harness them to go in the desired direction.

Essential Jung
