I expected to start normal college, but instead I wound up sprouting fur.

The one thing about growing up an orphan was that life sucked, but at least it was my kind of sucky. It was simple, ordinary, predictable.

Until the night I woke up naked in a dark forest, surrounded by a trio of powerful shifters who plucked me from my miserable existence to tell me I'm some sort of supernatural monster.

Now I'm taking a crash course in Werewolf 101 at some freaky, secret academy. Not to mention I can't get my mind off an infuriating, yet gorgeous (and off-limits) lion shifter who loves yoga and calling me "poodle".

If I can't get my shift together in this world of underground societies and scandal, I'm going to be up a creek without a doggy-paddle. Especially when a rare ability emerges within me. The last shifter who had this so-called gift wound up dead, and if anyone finds out I possess it, so will I.

Now wolfy and I must step up our game and quit tripping over our own tail.

Life is never going to be normal again.

it was pretty slow moving but I will attempt the second book. no steam in this book so far. story just started getting interesting at the end so I'll stick around at least 1 more book. good narrator.

So first I love the narrator. She really added to the story. She did all of the characters so well. And made it more of an experience and would love to listen to more books by her.

So the opening of the book. I really enjoyed it. I loved the hate on the paranormal loving roommate. You could really feel the awkwardness of meeting a new person that you are supposed to live with for the next 9 months. And the fact that they are the opposite of you. Loved it. A full disclosure I am totally a Ravenclaw! :)

I think the draw of the main character into the paranormal world was done very well. She was so against anything to do with it. So how to bring her into it. I think the basic animal instinct was the way to go and it was done very well. Also the fact that she was dreaming for most of the book really helped.

I will say that I pegged the "creepy" professor from the beginning but the story was done very well that it was very easily missed. But I just knew. I really did enjoy the tension with the love interest. The meditating class and her tension was great to read. The whole teacher student relationship was cringe worthy but really added to the story. I was really happy how her BFF reacted to her makeout session with the love interest. I was not sure how that was going to go.

I will end with this. It is not fair that we have to wait so long to get the next installment. I want to know now. I need to know what happens next.

I loved the relationship between Remi and Laith . The glimpse of laith's vulnerable side only made him more enduring to me . I can't wait to see more of their relationship as well as Hickoree's interactions with the pack . I'm also looking forward to see how remi's powers develop .

Academy of Shifters is a great 'coming into my powers' book focused on Shifter, mostly werewolves, instead of the normal witch/wizard story. The school has a great Hogwarts / Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters feel without being a ripoff of either of them. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Brittany Goodwin does an amazing reading of the book and has a voice range to make each character unique and recognizable. I can't say enough good about her narration

Remi definitely didn’t want anything that has been happening to her. I enjoyed her character along with how she reacted to things, It was interesting to learn about how this author had the different species of animals interact with each other and the prejudices people had based on that. Remi had a lot to deal with but she did make a few friends. Her pack was funny along with her kitty cat. He was a blast I enjoyed their banter and fighting. I saw some of the twists coming but the psychic abilities were interesting. I want to know a lot more about them and what’s going to happen next with relationships and the plot. Can’t wait for it all.

This is the first book by this author that I have read/listened to and let me say that the narrator did a great job pulling me into the story. I enjoyed the characters and the world building and can not wait to start book two.
