I was hesitant by not being familiar with the author. BUT, I am impressed and hooked.

Great new author and book. Story line was good with some bumps. But enjoyable mainly because of the narrator. Great change with characters, personalities. He handled the "mafia/fbi'ers" voices really well.

Great and entertaining

I didn’t know if America was safe - still don’t. We keep bringing babies into this world. Maybe one of them will figure it out.

Got My Attention

I really enjoyed the concept the author chose, an FBI agent with organized crime connections. Not 'bent' but related. It was a lot of fun to see how the two worlds worked. I thought the storyline was very good, and the conclusion was great. It was a story and a narration that kept me wanting more. I look forward to listening to other Nick Bracco stories and future narrations by R.C. Bray.

If you could sum up A Touch of Deceit in three words, what would they be?

Fear, Infiltration, Constitutional

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Touch of Deceit?

When Jennifer went with the team to find and kill or take prisoner's of the Kurdish terrorists. She felt that they had been set up. Jennifer explained her reasoning to Matt and he decided to talk with Nick. Before leaving, Matt helped Jennifer to burrow in for the onslaught. When her fears were proven correct, Matt went back to find Jennifer, fearing the worst. Upon arriving, he saw Jennifer hanging over the embankment and her body riddled with bullets. Matt took responsibility for her death and when Nick called, he left him know that Jennifer was "down." Matt heard someone trudging up the embankment but was unable to discern who because he could not get himself together. He heard a shot and was able to accept dying and told himself that now he could be with Jennifer. Jennifer came to him and after she assured him that it was her, his emotions continued to be in a turmoil but Matt did finally recognize Jennifer. She told him that she still felt that something was wrong and constructed a dummy before she left the site. Matt was correct when he thought he heard someone coming up behind him. However, Jennifer explained that she had killed the Kurd just before he pulled his trigger. The Kurd laid in front of Matt, at his feet, and knew that he would be dead if not for Jennifer.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but if I did see his name as narrator I would listen to him again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did try but I fell asleep and had to finish the book the next day.

Any additional comments?

This book was a good read. I hope that the author releases the second novel in the series soon. The book stirred emotions from 9/11. I hope that another such catastrophe doesn't ever happen on American soil. However, the book did open my eyes and I realize that we as a nation are now vulnerable. I was pleased to read how the POTUS, FBI, NSA, CIA as well as local police came together and pooled their information and people to help solve a very real crisis. It was also very interesting for the author to write how the constitution was meant for US citizens but not foreign countries. I don't understand why the US provides the enemies of our country the same privileges as US citizens. Having to bring in the mafia to rid our country of such evil should not be necessary. The US gives and gives and gives but the countries that we aid turn around and uses those weapons and strategies to kill AMERICANS. Why does the US continue to help countries that hate us. We provide them with so very much but when the US is in need they laugh and wish us death. The US provides the stability to prevent world chaos, I do understand. I only wish that the American people did not have to die to keep someone else's stability. Young men and women die everyday to sustain democracy. Maybe, democracy isn't for everyone.
