Born in Sussex and first coming to Canada as a teenager, Haig-Brown seeks out steelhead salmon in the wilds of British Columbia in this 1946 classic. Phil Williams brings a measured tone to his performance, echoing the depiction of the river as a timeless place.

Subtly written, few works have captured the pleasures of fly fishing so eloquently as this one.

Fishing rivers is a science and this author understands it. I really enjoyed the journey he take us on. Its tough to understand the river and how it works and how the fish use it . It takes many years even on the same stretch to one up the fish that live there. Thanks

River Fisherman Get It

A narrator can be the voice of the author in so many ways, capturing the spirit of the book and making it come alive. For other books the narrator can just ruin the whole thing. This was one of the latter. The narration is just poorly done. There is a sing-song nature to the voice, horrible, dopey charter voices and the whole time it just killed what should have been a book I loved. I'm going to have to read.

Don't get this book on Audible. It will ruin it for you.
