Theo Glass used to believe that love was just a fairy tale. Orphaned and disowned by his homophobic stepfamily, he and his grandma make ends meet as best they can. Their lives are too different, and there’s no chance James can come out as the first prince of the United Kingdom with a boyfriend. But James knows if he doesn’t show Theo how much he means to him, he’ll lose him forever.

Can love conquer all? Or is that something just for fairy tales?

Sometimes, a lovely, lighthearted royal romance is the perfect way to end what's been a truly awesome week, and that's exactly what A Right Royal Affair was for me. Penned by Helen Juliet and narrated by Kieran Flitton, This M/M story had a Cinderfella vibe to it, but even with that hint of familiarity to it, the author does a commendable job adding her own spin to it. Prince James and Theo Glass definitely had the odds stacked against them, but love wins in the end for these two, and while some may say that the story is far-fetched, remember that stranger things have happened in real life and that there was once upon a time where a royal and a commoner marrying was thought to be an impossibility as well. Wink, wink. This was my second story from Helen Juliet--and my favorite one so far, although I have read and listened to some of her work under her HJ Welch pen name--and my first audiobook from Kieran Flitton, who has left me happily impressed. I wouldn't say no to listening to more audiobooks from these two. 4.5 stars for A Right Royal Affair! ♥

I really liked it. Very sweet instalove. A little bit of angst. Not a lot of sexy time but the scenes are hot. I love this narrator. I really want more from him.

An engrossing book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters great. The characters were developed and thought out. Theo and James are the MC’s of this book. This is my first time listening to this narrator and he was fantastic. He wasn’t monotone, each character had their own voice and he spoke clearly. I can recommend this book as a good read/listen. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

If you love any version of Cinderella, The Slipper and the Rose movie or Red, White and Royal Blue, you are going to love this book. It hits all the sweet spots those works did while still being totally original. I can't bear to give too many spoilers but know that there are royal honors for elderly ladies who run shelters for LGBTQ youth, wonderful dogs, princes who appear on your doorstep and come in for a beer, evil step-fathers and courtiers, crystal shoes (could not believe how this classic trope appeared and I nearly cried with delight), a sister we all wish we could have, a fairy godmother/cook, best friends who rock climb in special hijabs and on and on. Every chapter has some new delight like going through a box of chocolates with each having a new surprise filling and at one point you will need tissues and some stitches for your broken heart. Kieran Flitton is a new narrator for me but his voicing of this is perfection. Don't have your drink with ice too close when that gorgeous voice meshes with Helen Juliet's hot love scenes-the ice is guaranteed to melt. Run, even if you lose a shoe and grab this for a listen before the stroke of midnight!!

There was a lot of Disney cuteness in this book with a dash of smexy times mixed in.

Overall, I liked the characters. I found both MC's to be honest and real, their romance was genuine, and the conflict was plausible and quickly addressed.

As I mentioned, there were a lot of 'awwww' Disney moments that were a bit cheesy, but nothing too over the top. The book spanned the entirety of the relationship, which was fun to hear, not just a short epilogue.

I must admit, Kieran Flitton was an amazing narrator. I was never confused about who was talking. Everyone's voice was unique and he performed the story well.

Super sweet modern day fairy tale, pretty low angst with a slower burn. Narration is done really well and just added to the story. Overall very enjoyable listen.

This book is just about the Sweetest thing you could imagine. Helen Juliet is an amazing author with a taste for sweet, low-angst love stories, and this modern day retelling of Cinderella, with plebian poor Theo from Essex falling in love with closed bisexual Prince James of England is absolutely amazing.
This was my first audiobook narrated by Kieran Flitton, and I really think he did both the characters and the story justice.

This was a sweet story. Was it real life? No, but it was a wonderful story that I enjoyed. The Prince did not rescue Cinderella. Cinderella or more correctly Cinderfella, rescued the Prince.

What a sweet sweet story!

Once upon a time.. a prince named James fell in love with an Essex boy named Theo.

It’s a modern retelling of Cinderella, all the way down to the shoes. However, I love the kind of shoes used in this story more than any glass slippers.

Kieran Flitton did an excellent job with this book. The characters came to life. His accents were spot on. I hope he does more narrations for this genre.

If you’re looking for a fun, sweet, low angst read, this one’s the perfect one for you. 💖

I'm a sucker for a good fairytale retelling, this one did not disappoint. The story hit all the highpoints of the original in cute ways that served the story well. I enjoyed the characters and the way the relationship developed. Great story.
