Acerca de esta escucha

What if one morning you look in the mirror and no longer recognize the person looking back?

When Leelo can no longer identify herself by the roles that once defined her, it's both terrifying and liberating. Oh, she feels the loss, the grief, and then the anger, but when she inherits property up north, she jumps at the promise of freedom and independence.

Yet not everyone in her new community is what they seem, starting with the surly mountain man down the road.

As owner of the local fishing lodge, Roar is content with his everyday life. And the older he gets, the less he appreciates change. So when a blue-haired, tattooed ‘city girl’ moves into the old motel, shaking up his daily routine, he’s none too pleased.

Still, something about the woman’s easy smile and almost reckless grit has him step up as her keeper.

A woman (Leelo) from the city inherits a motel in rural northern Ontario, she moves there, meets the love of her life (Roar), they slowly build a life together. This story was good. It was amusing and easy listening.

Pros: found family/blended family, small town, mild ow drama, mild mystery subplot, lakeside summer reading vibes, fixer upper motel with on-page renovations (if you like that sort of thing, I really do), and a straight line to love - meaning that even as middle aged divorcees with tons baggage both of these MCs never deviated from the idea that they were good for each other. There was no unnecessary angst or separation.

Cons: the plot was a little bit humdrum, for some reason being a middle aged romance heroine means you suddenly become a caricature (all slapstick comedy and eccentric choices) 🙄, also IMHO the heroine didn't feel sexy or feminine (does that end with your 30s or something?) Don't get me wrong the hero was super into her which was cute, but I prefer women in this genre (of any age) to feel attractive.
