For Spring Break, I was the tour guide for a trip from Arizona into Mexico. I led my mother and Art from Phoenix to Nogales and then into Hermosillo and Los Mochis. From there, we caught El Chepe into the Barrancas del Cobre (Copper Canyon Railroad) as it passed through the beautiful Sonoran Desert and into the mountains surrounding Creel. Deciding that my style of travel would ultimately be safe during the global pandemic, I had converted my summer trip to Colombia and Ecuador into a winter trip to Mexico. Mexico is basically the only place an American can travel to by air and not be quarantined for two weeks. Europe was not an option and my winter break isn't long enough for anywhere else. So, an easy destination was the only consideration. The Quintana Roo area of Mexico on the Yucatan peninsula was the logical choice. My travels took me from Cancun south along the coast to Puerto Morelos, Tulum, Cozumel, and Chetumal. ...

During the winter of 2014 I took a bus from Phoenix to El Paso and then into Mexico for a few weeks' adventure. From Chihuahua I took the El Chepe train through the spectacular Barranco del Cobre (Copper Canyon). Along the way I stopped in Creel before continuing over to San Ignacio and Los Mochis. After exploring Los Mochis, I continued down the coast to Mazatlan. Durango, Zacatecas, and Aguascalientes were next followed by my final destination, Guadalajara. I also got to see a tequila distillery in the town of Tequila as well as the suburb of Zapopan.

This Winter's trip took me to my last 4 states that I had not visited in the United States - Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. The highlights of the trip included the Badlands National Park, Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, and the city of Denver.
