Notes from the author: The following is a short story I wrote in the Elantris world back in January of 2006. There were always a few holes in Elantris where I decided not to include viewpoints or sections of explanation in the name of streamlining, particularly at the end. In the back of my mind, I knew what happened. This story talks about one of those holes; it is meant to be heard after you’ve finished the novel and takes place during the events of the climax.

A short and sweet radio drama.
Revisado: 02-27-21
The Hope of Elantris was a good story, I always enjoy full cast productions because they bring the story to life in a way that is difficult for most single narrators to do. This story was no exception; it was exactly as good as you'd expect a 38 minute long radio drama to be. If you're already a fan Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere books, this may be on that you enjoy as much as Sanderson's other short stories - and for the price - it's worth a listen. If you've never read anything from the Cosmere before, this is not an entry point. You will be completely lost if you haven't read Elantris.

Best Expeditionary Force book yet.
Revisado: 02-25-21
R.C. Bray, as usual, was a phenomenal narrator and brought even more life to Craig's already compelling and lively story. Even though the book was nearly 20 hours look, every chapter adds to this fast pace, military sci-fi adventure. Another great edition to the Expeditionary Force story.

A private detective pursuing an honest, or not so honest, buck. When Jazz is told of the death of his childhood friend, Erta L’Hotzuma, a death the local law fails to investigate, he sets out to find out who is responsible and why. His investigation, however, soon meets strong and violent resistance and he begins to suspect he has stumbled onto something bigger than just the death of a friend.

Great Introduction
Revisado: 08-26-20
I'm a bit new to the hardboiled detective noir kind of genre, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this book. I was pleasantly surprised when this book took me somewhere so unfamiliar as Xeno City. In such a short span of time, Todd C. Wilson puts us in Jazz's shoes and takes us on s fast paced adventure full of suspense with a satisfying conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would reccomend it if you enjoy things like The Dresden Files, The Fetch Phillips Archives or the show "Cowboy Bebop."

I don't know why people berate this book for not being the best thing he's ever written, as if that makes it bad. The narrator could have done better but the story itself was very good. Don't make this your first Sanderson book but don't miss out on it either.

Goblins and dragons and wizards, oh my.
Revisado: 06-10-20
A truly epic high fantasy story that follows several characters and is masterfully written. This is of the best books I've had the pleasure of listening to in months. Not once did I feel like the stakes were lacking in this story. There were battles ranging from large to small and the tension was always palpable. The author does a good job developing the characters and making you want them to succeed in their most dire circumstances. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has a love for high fantasy or fantasy in general. It includes many classic fantasy races without making them feel stale, cliche or forced. The story, itself, is also self contained so you leave quenched but eagerly anticipating the next installment of what is bound to be a great series.

Better than I anticipated
Revisado: 06-06-20
Overall, this book was a solid opening to a series. The thing I enjoyed most was the dynamic between our two main characters. Their relationship was built well and this gave the situations they found themselves in a lot more tension in every way. Every character was dynamic and didn't remain static throughout the story. The story does a good job questioning black and white morality, as well as entire ways of life without doing it a way that feels like the author is force feeding the reader their own opinions.
The narrator did a good job giving the characters their own individual voices. There was never a time when I was not submerged in the story due to the narrator. The dialogue never felt ridged or forced. I look forward to listening to the next one.

So close to perfect.
Revisado: 06-05-20
I love this book and I love this series. If you have gotten this far, you probably love it too. The only thing that stops this book from being perfect is the lack of stakes for the characters. Everything is built up so high. I was engaged, the tension was high, the villain was great. Then, one tiny detail at the end completly ripped me out of the story. The story needs consequences and those consequences should be permanent. Without permanent consequences, emotional moments feel cheap and fall flat.

I really liked this book. It was short, fast paced and fun. I was intrigued from the very first line. The characterization of Author is very well done and you feel like you get to know the characters pretty well, even if you cruise through the book in one day. The fight scenes were well written and it's altogether, a fun story to sit back and relax with. I will, most definitely, be picking up the next one.

A very well done story that made me feel invested from beginning to end. It's an excellent first entry to an epic fantasy series and I look forward to what this author can do in the future. If you enjoyed the political intrigue of A Song of Ice and Fire but don't want all of the taxing grimdark elements that the series is known for, then I would most definitely reccomend The Shadow Watch. If you like reading epic battles and fantastic monsters, I would also recommend The Shadow Watch.
