This book is primarily made up of defining what trauma, crisis and grief are. The examples to explain each are numerous with little done to explain how to utilize proper counseling techniques to help those in need.

Will not recommend to my clients. Should be self-memoir not self-help book. When everyone around the author is considered toxic to her, it makes you question who really is toxic? I was hoping this would be a good resource for my clients who either need help completely cutting ties with with toxic family members or setting strong boundaries with them. Instead, this book was more of a memoir used like a weapon against the author's family members instead of focusing on the readers. Regardless if this venom towards her family is well deserved, the book description makes it clear this is self-help book so it's completely off-putting in my opinion. I found it a little too author-focused and self-indulgent.
