Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

How do you pack so much in one read???
Revisado: 11-15-23
Love the combination of historical, sociological, geopolitical, geographical, political, cultural, economics, policy, structural… he comes at with his “how we got here” and “what (but not when) prediction” of the world to be. And it’s a great reader if you do Audible!
I feel this should be required reading for every high school and undergrad to open their eyes to the world that was, is, and could be. But mostly to open their eyes how they can stake their claim on impacting the world and/or capitalizing on trends.
My only criticism is the obsession with China (for good reason)… but why is it Zeihan’s view on China’s present and future essentially feels like the country will somehow vanish from the earth (my exaggeration, but that’s what it felt like).
Enjoy… I certainly did!

Great biblical lesson for non-Christians applied to business
Revisado: 12-02-18
I’m not Christian but highly spiritual. For the most part the lessons taught in the context of the Bible, the leaders and the stories are highly impactful and transferable to so many other areas of life whether that be relationships, sports, service, or leading your kids and family. Sometimes you can hear people snatch a quote out the Bible and feel concern if they are just using a snippet to make their point but because Dave Anderson gives greater context the point/interpretation is so effective.
I really appreciated this book and simply didn’t give it a 5-star because some challenging points (particularly on debt and partnerships), but challenging is good as it makes us all think and appreciate the variety God put in this earth.

Welcome to Practice Makes Harmony - a practical approach to marital problems. Maybe, with enough practice, what seems difficult to us now will eventually become second nature.

Refreshingly to the point yet filled with great advice
Revisado: 03-17-18
Sometimes I find great marriage or self help books that give me hours upon hours of “entertainment”, but I have to say Practice Makes Harmony gave me a succinct guideline of helpful tips to share with my spouse in under 2 hours. This will especially be helpful as we listen to it together since she has a short attention span for self-help / marriage help books.

Historia
In Boundaries in Marriage, Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend, counselors and authors of the New York Times bestseller Boundaries, teach us that healthy boundaries are the property lines that define and protect you and your spouse as individuals. Once you have them in place, a good marriage can become better, and a less-than-satisfying one can even be saved.

Impactful and digestible even not being Christian
Revisado: 02-04-18
Boundaries isn’t a book about creating love, but is likely the most powerful book about the practical management of marriage to maintain the love beyond the honeymoon phase. I spoke about this being digestible even though I’m not Christian because the book is full of bible verse references. But for me the Bible verse references were somehow presented speaking to universally accepted truths you can believe in just being a believer in a guidebook for marriage success.
It is my intent to take this book piece by piece and have hourly listening and discussions with my wife at least a few days a week. What an intimate experience it will.

Historia
At once a powerful evocation of his early life in Harlem and a disturbing examination of the consequences of racial injustice to both the individual and the body politic, James Baldwin galvanized the nation in the early days of the civil rights movement with this eloquent manifesto. The Fire Next Time stands as one of the essential works of our literature.

Historia
The superwealthy in America have been using the insurance industry as their own personal piggy bank since the start of the industrial revolution. When you do it right, you can use this same practice to protect your money all the way until retirement. This is more than just a garbage insurance strategy. This is about investing your money in a way that the fat cats on Wall Street don't like. It's low risk, high reward.

Content is legit, just get past the underlying advertisement
Revisado: 01-15-17
I have read "listened" to a couple books on the subject and they are pretty much the same. This one was read well, just had to get past the fact the author is trying to educate and advertise his firm. Whether you read/listen to this one or another the subject material is really valuable. I also wish there were more charts and examples of plans other than just regurgitating the same old recognizable names that used this plan as part of their financial management through tough times or to get their businesses started.
