Historia
The world has changed. Now, when someone is murdered, they almost always come back to life—and there are professionals, called “dispatchers”, who kill in order to save lives, to give those near the end a second chance. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

Very Good
Revisado: 12-06-22
These stories are really good. The idea of people getting a reset of they are murdered is such a creative idea. Mixing that with the mysteries that follow the main character makes for fun stories. Just wish they were longer

Very mixed bag
Revisado: 07-12-19
The performance was great. The premise has promise. The “satire” is ham fisted and clumsy. The humor is sophomoric. On the plus side it was free and short. Mr Correia’s other stories in the Grimnoir and Monster Hunter series are excellent if you’d like to see his real talent shine.

Unpleasent
Revisado: 09-23-16
What disappointed you about The Forgotten Eden?
The language is stilted and unnatural. The scene of child rape was unnecessary and disturbing.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron
How could the performance have been better?
The reader was monotonous
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Forgotten Eden?
I would cut about half of it. The first few chapters do not add anything to the story. The rape scene is inappropriate. There is a lot of padding in this prose that just isn't necessary.
Any additional comments?
Not a good book. I got through about half before I had to turn it off and move on to something better

Not very good
Revisado: 06-28-16
Would you try another book from D. Rus and/or Michael Goldstrom?
Probably won't try D. Rus again. Michael Goldstrom did a decent job with what he had to work with.
Would you ever listen to anything by D. Rus again?
Probably not.
What three words best describe Michael Goldstrom’s performance?
Good enough
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from AlterWorld?
I would removes most of Max's easy wins. It's just boring.
Any additional comments?
There needs to be some real conflict. I played a LOT of World Of Warcraft in my day and this reads a lot like someone joining that game. The only problem is that it is fairly boring to grind levels and only gets really interesting at the end of the leveling process. This book is mostly just the boring parts. And not only that, he goes about leveling in the most boring ways. Farming a single area for 30 levels UGH. Just not good writing.

Historia
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

Pretty good
Revisado: 06-04-16
The performance was very good. Kate Mulgrew reads very well. She does a few voices but nothing too nuts so they aren't distracting.
The writing is pretty good. The story is creepy and tense but rambles a bit in the middle. There are also an inordinate number of nods to Stephen King's "The Stand". I love that Joe is paying tribute to his dad and one of the best end of the world books ever, but they get distracting and sometimes feel a little campy or forced.
I'd recommend this to others but with a warning to stick with it through the slow bits.

Distracting and cliched
Revisado: 01-22-16
What disappointed you about The Chronicles of Dragon: The Hero, the Sword and the Dragons?
The sound effects were distracting. The honky tonk country music in the taverns, awful and out of place. The weird screams of pain were just awkward. The sound of spears being thrown was more like something from an old radio show about superman.
The story itself was one cliche after another with sometimes stilted and sometimes childish dialogue.
Would you ever listen to anything by Craig Halloran again?
I will be very surprised if I listen to another.
How could the performance have been better?
No silly sound effects.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I was looking forward to a good dragon story and this is a 10 book series. I hoped it would be much much better.
Any additional comments?
This just wasn't for me. Maybe more casual listeners or younger listeners will enjoy it.

Just okay
Revisado: 06-20-15
The last 4 chapters were a mess. The ending feels like a cop out. The reader was pretty good, though and the balance of the book was fine though not as enjoyable as the first in the series.

This just wasn't for me.
Revisado: 06-10-15
The first book in the series was pretty good... Good enough that I stuck with it even though the ending was ridiculous. This book was very disjointed. And dull considering all the space battles. The earthlings react to finding themselves in space with about as much alarm as one would feel finding oneself at Target. It just fell flat for me.

The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

A slow burn
Revisado: 01-31-15
While I have issues relating to and sympathizing with Rachel because of her alcoholism, I enjoyed the book very much. The pacing was slow but I liked the slow burn of the mystery unfolding. The three ladies reading this were very nice. Each brought a unique voice to her character that made the story easier to follow. Well done

Pretty good
Revisado: 01-14-15
While not in the top 10 of King's novels for me, this one isn't in the bottom 10 either. The book tackles themes of aging and death pretty straightforwardly and that's nice to see that kind of depth in a King story. The story is a little slow paced in the middle. The various twists and turns come together in a climax that is a little rushed and confusing, and quite a bit strange. This is okay but as I'm not a huge fan of Lovecraft, the echoes of his influence here just don't hit home for me. The reader was fine but not someone I'll go out of my way to listen to again.
