Historia
In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

A Very Harrowing Account
Revisado: 08-23-24
This book is a very profound recounting and analysis of the subject. From the irrational and abusive nature of arrests and interrogations in the Soviet system to the inhumane and soul-destroying conditions of Soviet labor camps, the author does not hold back in presenting the reader with great detail the horrors of this dark spot on human history. He even goes further as to provide an analysis on what can be learned about human nature and the soul of man from the experiences of those unfortunate enough to find themselves, as the author did, in those gulags. Definitely worth the read!

A rallying cry striking at the roots of today’s major issues, Jesse Kelly uses his trademark bombast, intelligence, and humor to take down the most dangerous philosophy in history and address its resurgence in America. A Necessary Topic

I love the idea of an anti-communist manifesto, and the main points of the book were good.
I wasn’t a fan of the style of writing, and you’ll have to excuse some sarcastic remarks, but overall worth a listen, and very important to our current situation.

Historia
It is unusual to find in recorded history a nation of people who enjoyed the privilege of self-government. It is even more rare to find a nation who possessed this right along with the gospel of Christ. The gospel teachings provide an understanding of the proper function of government, which lays an extremely important political duty upon those who have these teachings. When a nation of people who have had the power of government placed in their hands become evil and without conscience, they will use that power to plunder and enslave one another until individual freedom is destroyed. It is ...

By Far The Most Important Book I Have Read This Year, Except The Scriptures!!!!
Revisado: 06-30-24
Every man of God should read this book! It is of great importance to our temporal and spiritual salvation, and the dangers it warns about are being carried into effect by many who are acting in ignorance against the laws of the God they attempt to serve. It really opened my eyes as to how I have not been treating the Priesthood with the seriousness it deserves. Read it and share it with others.

Historia
War Is a Racket is Marine General Smedley Butler's classic treatise on why wars are conducted, who profits from them, and who pays the price. Few people are as qualified as General Butler to advance the argument encapsulated in his book's sensational title. When War Is a Racket was first published in 1935, Butler was the most decorated American soldier of his time. Despite his success and his heroic status, Butler came away from his military experiences with a deeply troubled view of both the purpose and the results of warfare.

Thoughtful and Concise, More Relevant Today Than Ever
Revisado: 03-25-24
An interesting analysis on the excesses of war
The basic idea is that we keep engaging in unnecessary war because the rich and powerful profit from it, while the people foot the bill, monetarily and in loss of life and freedom.
He proposes the following solutions:
1) Enforce fixed wages across the board during war so that nobody earns a higher wage than our soldiers;
2) Place the decision-making power regarding whether or not to enter a war solely in the hands of the military-aged men who would be fighting the war;
3) Limit how far from the US our military could go.
I disagree with the author on a few points, especially regarding his solution. There are much better solutions available to us. The most effective solution would be to end the federal reserve which currently extends the endless line of credit that funds the endless wars and government corruption that benefits only the elites with little support from the people. None of this would have been possible if it actually had to be funded by the people instead of the fed. That would restore sovereignty in the matter to the people.

Historia
Over 4,000 students gathered at the University of Michigan to hear Republican Party candidate Ron Paul speak. As he began to address the topics of monetary policy and the coming depression, a chant rose from the crowd, "End the Fed! End the Fed!" As dollar bills were lit on fire and thrown into the night skies, it became clear that the real problem, one that nobody in the media was talking about, was the central bank-an unconstitutional entity and a political, economic, and moral disaster.

A clearly articulated explanation of the moral and pragmatic problems with our current economic system, this book is definitely worth a listen! The central bank funds endless wars and overblown government corruption that otherwise would not have been possible, harboring additional consequences of runaway inflation, crime, recession, and loss of individual liberty.

It was kind of meh.
Revisado: 02-13-24
Parts of it smell like propaganda.
Some claims should have been accompanied by greater warrant/evidence for the claim instead of just making claims and moving on.
My knowledge is almost the same after listening to it as it was before.
Also, the person who reads the book didn’t do that great of a job. His voice inflections and emphasis made it seem like he didn’t understand what he was reading.
Overall, not terrible, but kind of meh. I think I wasted a credit.

How did the founding generation intend for us to interpret and apply the Constitution? Are liberals right when they cite its “elastic” clauses to justify big government, or are conservatives right when they cite its explicit limits on federal power? Professor Brion McClanahan, popular author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Fathers, finds the answers by going directly to the source—the Founders themselves, who debated all the relevant issues in their state constitutional conventions.

Historia
Are you above average? Is your child an A student? Is your employee an introvert or an extrovert? Every day we are measured against the yardstick of averages, judged according to how close we come to it or how far we deviate from it. The assumption that metrics comparing us to an average—like GPAs, personality test results, and performance review ratings—reveal something meaningful about our potential is so ingrained in our consciousness that we don't even question it. That assumption, says Harvard's Todd Rose, is spectacularly—and scientifically—wrong.
