Historia
What is the best way for the average person to authentically experience the world's greatest mountain range - the Himalayas? Fortunately, there is now a good answer. The Annapurna Circuit in Nepal is the most popular footpath in Asia. Its genius lies in its design. Trekkers wind their way around and along some of the world's greatest peaks, ultimately getting near 18,000 feet, without ever having to do any 'technical climbing'.

true and captivating
Revisado: 09-27-17
As a Nepali man, I find Bill's account of travel in Annapurna circuit and ABC to be true and captivating. I liked listening about his perception of Nepal and Nepali as a foreigner to the mountainous way of life. I would recommend travellers to ask (or demand in writing) their trekking company about how much is being paid to their giudes and porters. Unfortunately, guides and porters get underpaid all the time, which doesn't work well for the tourists paying high prices and the workers who have to put in blood and sweat to keep the tourists safe and satisfied. Also, please book your guides in advance. I believe there is a law now stipulating that all foreigners in Nepal should have a company helping them so they don't get into trouble. In any case, it was fun to hear Bill's experience. Keep up the good work.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

This book is based on paleontological and historical evidence to understand our current place in the biological world. The author goes further to solidly define our current scientific and technological state, and makes predictions of the future. Being a person of science, I found this book very captivating. The reader's voice and style is entertaining and easily conveys the seriousness of the text.
