Historia
Over the past thirty years, Gregory Boyle has transformed thousands of lives through his work as the founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang-intervention program in the world. The program runs on two unwavering principles: (1) Everyone is unshakably good (no exceptions) and (2) we belong to each other (no exceptions). Boyle believes that these two ideas allow all of us to cultivate a new way of seeing. Every community wants to be a safe place, where people are seen, and then are cherished.

Historia
Brandi Carlile was born into a musically gifted, impoverished family on the outskirts of Seattle and grew up in a constant state of change, moving from house to house, trailer to trailer, 14 times in as many years. Though imperfect in every way, her dysfunctional childhood was as beautiful as it was strange, and as nurturing as it was difficult. At the age of five, Brandi contracted bacterial meningitis, which almost took her life, leaving an indelible mark on her formative years and altering her journey into young adulthood.

I didn’t know anything about her before this book. Got it on a whim, because I liked the title. A story of love, and risk. Authentic a real pull back the curtain story. To me those are the best.

How do I forgive? Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu has witnessed some of the worst crimes people can inflict on others. So wherever he goes, he inevitably gets asked this question. This audiobook is his answer. Writing with his daughter, Mpho, an Anglican priest, they lay out the simple but profound truths about the significance of forgiveness, how it works, why everyone needs to know how to grant it and receive it, and why granting forgiveness is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves when we have been wronged.

Historia
It is now 100 years since drugs were first banned in the United States. On the eve of this centenary, journalist Johann Hari set off on an epic three-year, 30,000-mile journey into the war on drugs. What he found is that more and more people all over the world have begun to recognize three startling truths: Drugs are not what we think they are. Addiction is not what we think it is. And the drug war has very different motives to the ones we have seen on our TV screens for so long.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A masterpiece like none other, Brooks’ powerful performance of Haley’s words has been known to leave listeners in tears. It begins with a birth in an African village in 1750, and ends two centuries later at a funeral in Arkansas. And in that time span, an unforgettable cast of men, women, and children come to life, many of them based on the people from Alex Haley's own family tree.

One of the Best Business Books I've ever read!
Revisado: 12-05-11
Would you consider the audio edition of Great by Choice to be better than the print version?
No but Jim does a good job of telling you what the charts he's talking about look like.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Love the stories of the South Pole, Everest, and Climbing.
Have you listened to any of Jim Collins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Jim does it again. He's great at explaining things in his book so that you know he's not reading something. Only he could do this as he's the one who wrote the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No too much for one sitting, its a book I've already listened to sections of several times and I have a lot more notes to take.
Any additional comments?
The best book I read this year and the most applicable. I've read good to great. After reading this one I got
