Historia
In the last decade there has been a revolution in our understanding of the minds of infants and young children. We used to believe that babies were irrational, and that their thinking and experience were limited. Now Alison Gopnik - a leading psychologist and philosopher, as well as a mother - explains the cutting-edge scientific and psychological research that has revealed that babies learn more, create more, care more, and experience more than we could ever have imagined.

Silly things described with a serious voice :)
Revisado: 06-03-24
I loved this book. As a father to a three year old, I thought it might be a bit too late to listen to a book about babies to still be relevant, but the author's definition of a baby includes even older children.
I think there is a lot of interesting and useful information in the book. The best part that it is also fun to listen to. Listening to the narrator telling about silly things that babies do with a serious voice has a certain charm to it :)
Many parents will enjoy listening!

Helped me immensely after my mom passed
Revisado: 02-28-24
Although I had it in my library for a couple of years, I only decided to listen to it after my mother's death. It helped me immensely, both by allowing me to appreciate cultural aspects of various communities and religions dealing with the concept of death as well as the philosophical approach to life and death.

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

The hidden side of how money influences politics
Revisado: 01-26-23
I think this is a very important book that is an eye opener of how money can buy almost anything, including (especially?) political decision making institutions. You should think who is behind nice or offensive words you hear in media next time, which can be applied not only to politics.
I gave it one star less because for me personally the book was just too long, because essentially the message becomes clear from the beginning, and then it's just more of the same. Year after year, dark money after dark money (just more and more and more...)

Historia
A rare, intimate portrait of Christopher Nolan with the full cooperation of Nolan himself who opened up more fully than ever before in his talks with Tom Shone. In chapters structured by themes and motifs ("Time"; "Chaos"), Shone writes of Nolan's thoughts on movies, on plots; on time, identity, perception, chaos, daydreams. Here is Nolan on the evolution of his pictures, and the writers, artists, directors, and thinkers who have inspired and informed his films.

Makes you watch Nolan's movies differently
Revisado: 07-27-22
This book is a true gem for Nolan's fans as it provides so much background information and stories related to his movies. But for me personally, the biggest value of the book is that it has made me watch movies differently - not simply to "watch" the movie, but to look for these tiny details and "director's touches" that make each movie unique and special in its own way. Thanks to the author for opening my eyes when I watch movies! (no pun intended...)

Changes you way of thinking about climate change
Revisado: 07-27-22
Even though I consider myself quite knowledgeable about the topic of climate change, this book changed my way of thinking about it. Actually, I'm now more positive about us as humanity having the will and power to make the change before it is too late by following very thoughtful and reasonable guidelines presented in this book. And finally, this book also makes me feel responsible for being more proactive in talking to and educating other people. We can only make the difference if we act together!

Perfect guide to understanding Economics
Revisado: 05-07-21
After finishing this audiobook I honestly feel that I understand Economics and misconceptions about it much better. Prof. Taylor is an excellent speaker, he obviously knows his subject in depth and he has great sense of humor.
I am looking forward to putting my newly acquired knowledge to test when I hear something about Economics in the news and I can say "hey, I understand what this means and what consequences this might have!"
I only wished this audiobook/course was updated with an extra chapter with what has changed since 2005, when this was recorded.

Misleading title. Weird pauses in sentences.
Revisado: 10-07-20
I must agree with other reviewers that the title of the course is misleading, and so I did not get from the course what I had hoped for.
The lecturer sounds excited and very knowledgeable about the subject, but my complaint is about how he is making pauses in his sentences in the most unexpected way. It is either his manner of speaking or it is poor quality editing of the audio that adds these pauses. In any case, it disturbs the listening experience.
