I’ve been using this audiobook for bedtime for a few months now and I’m so glad I found it. I especially love this it’s longer because sometimes the shorter ones just aren’t quite long enough. A testament to no well this works is that I have no idea how it ends!

A serious botanist, she has no desire to wed, so being forced by her guardian to participate in the Season to find a husband is torture.

Eenjoyable, but questionable voice.
Revisado: 03-08-22
Firstly, this is a well-written novel. So far, I'm really enjoying this series. I plan to continue the series after finishing this book. For the most part, Billie Fulford-Brown's narration is quite good. But, for some reason, she chose to use a nasal-y voice for the male protagonist, Drake. Drake is supposed to be masculine, even intimidating. But that voice is SUPER distracting. What I really don't understand is that Fulford-Brown definitely has other voices in her arsenal and just chose the wrong one. So, I just don't get it. It doesn't help that Drake is a slightly annoying character. Nonetheless, I still recommend giving this audiobook a try.

Jack would rather be at sea than fixing the mistakes of his grandfather, the late Earl of Stansworth. Instead, he finds that inheriting his grandfather's wealth and title and securing the welfare of his sister and mother means joining the ranks of high society and living with the aristocracy. Luckily, Ivy Carslisle, the granddaughter of a dear friend of Jack's late grandmother, is willing to teach him etiquette and properly introduce him into society.

I really enjoyed this audio book. The narrator did a good job. And the main characters were fun, and easy to root for. I definitely recommend this one.

I love this sleep meditation. The narrator’s voice is really relaxing. If anything, I just wish it was a bit longer.

Sweet…with some problems.
Revisado: 08-29-21
Julie Garwood is an excellent writer. And Anne Flosnik is, in my opinion, one of the best narrators in the historical romance genre. In general, the characters in this story are interesting. The love story has it’s ups and downs, keeping the reader interested. Yet, in the blinding light of the 21st-century, the hero of the story, Geoffrey, comes across more as an abusive gaslighter than a “gentle warrior.” Obviously, this isn’t what the author intended. But there are some scenes when he pulls her hair (to the point of bringing her to tears), grabs her (and leaves bruises), or shakes her (until her teeth chatter). I suppose within the context of medieval times this may not have been seen as terrible behavior. But, I found it both disturbing & distracting. How am I supposed to pay attention to this great love story when all I notice is how bad the hero treats the heroine?
Still, if you can get past all that, there are some really good elements to the story. This just wasn’t my favorite Julie Garwood novel.

A really great story with an acceptable narrator
Revisado: 08-03-21
I really enjoyed this novel. And I’m looking forward to listening to the next one. The protagonist in this book is fierce and independent, but also fun & relatable. And I enjoy the relationship between her and her maid. I look forward to hearing how she navigates love and her non traditional career.

As always Molly Harper is *chef’s kiss*
Revisado: 07-29-21
I enjoy Harper’s sense of humor. Her characters are always witty and fun. And I love that she makes her heroines smart and relatable. This book was no exception. This love story is romantic without an over reliance on sex, which is refreshing. And the fantasy/magical world it takes place in adds something special to the novel.
I confess I like Amanda Ronconi’s narration more than Jonathan Davis’. But, I think that’s just because I’m more accustomed to Ronconi’s.

Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

A really cute story!
Revisado: 07-19-21
I thought this was a really cute love story. It had just the right amount of twists and turns. And the heroine is someone that’s very easy to be empathetic with. I love that the character was allowed to make a few mistakes, but without appearing to be stupid or silly. It’s really easy to cheer for all of the main characters.

Good story, but moves a bit slow.
Revisado: 03-07-21
Overall, I liked this novel. The heroine was interesting and different. And the hero was complicated without being stupid or offensive. But the pace of the narrative was a bit slow. Honestly they could’ve skimmed it down to about half the length and it likely would’ve had a better pace.

I greatly enjoyed this book. It was especially nice to see the knight-in-shining-armor stereotype turned on its head, and see the damsel rescue the knight. I only wish there was a sequel!
The narrator was also fantastic.
