Abrupt ending. Too many loose ends. Did the author just get lazy and quit? Performer was terrific.

Torturous narrator
Revisado: 05-04-11
Avoid this 'reader' at all costs! Over played, 'snarky' when there's no need to sound it, heavy handed. All the characters sounded alike with the only difference being pitch or nasality. Decent story? IDK...couldn't stand the reader long enough to find out.

Named for a flower whose blood-red sap possesses the power both to heal and poison, Bloodroot is a stunning fiction debut about the legacies - of magic and madness, faith and secrets, passion and loss - that haunt one family across the generations, from the Great Depression to today. The novel is told in a kaleidoscope of seamlessly woven voices and centers around an incendiary romance that consumes everyone in its path.

Amusing, but not riveting
Revisado: 04-25-10
Descriptions really pop; felt like I was living among the characters, but at times, the plot felt characterized and too familiar. Performers were stellar... Nice story, but not one that kept me sitting in my car to hear the end of the chapter.

Great performance by Barry--lilting voice but not sing-song. Didn't grate on my nerves. Story was terrific with a bit of a twist. Characters well drawn and sympathetic (even Cal!) I'll look for my by the author and the reader!
