It’s a great and honest story of starting from the bottom and remembering that when you are on the top.

What an amazing book about Latinos in the US. I think this should be standard reading for all HS students in the US.

The point when they all become adults
Revisado: 08-08-23
This is the best book of the series. It’s the point when all the main characters have that break that really pushes them to accept what it is to be an adult and be responsible for your choices. Such a phenomenal story.

Historia
In Munich, writer Benjamin Stern enters his flat to find a man leafing through his research. When Stern confronts him, the man shoots him, murmurs a few words in Latin, gathers the papers and leaves. In Venice, art restorer and Israeli agent Gabriel Allon reads a message saying that Stern is dead; can he leave immediately? At the Vatican, a priest named Pietro paces in the garden, pondering the discoveries he has made, the enemies he will make, and the journey he must undertake. Silva weaves these three threads into a multilayered mystery.

Historia
Leadership development speaker & consultant Andy Ellis is the former CSO of Akamai, where he contributed to the creation of Akamai's billion‑dollar cybersecurity business. He now brings his speaking, consulting, and business knowledge to listeners with 1% Leadership—based on the reality that real-world leadership is messy and complicated; it rarely fits into an acronym or a dogmatic overarching philosophy. Ellis says that there are no “irrefutable laws” of leadership or power; there is no secret.

Be Fantastic not a nematoad!
Revisado: 05-26-23
It’s no Terry Pratchett novel but Andy has written a management book that I actually want to put on my desk and reference regularly. The wisdom and anecdotes he imparts are useful and based on lived experience in the field, in this case in Tech. I’ve read my fair share of management books and they are good but they are case studies in bygone industries, 1% Leadership is relevant today.
What really struck me was how he worked in DE&I material that was beneficial, consumable, and relatable regardless of your self identified in and out groups.
This is one of those few books that I have a hardcopy and audible because listening to Andy tell his own story makes it even more enjoyable.

Historia
We call it domestic violence. We call it private violence. Sometimes we call it intimate terrorism. But whatever we call it, we generally do not believe it has anything at all to do with us, despite the World Health Organization deeming it a 'global epidemic'. In No Visible Bruises, journalist Rachel Louise Snyder gives context for what we don't know we're seeing. She frames this urgent and immersive account of the scale of domestic violence in our country around key stories that explode the common myths....

Must read especially for men
Revisado: 11-15-22
DV is a topic that remains taboo for so many in the US and the world at large and this book lays it all bare. I would easily say this is a must listen for anyone who grew up in a household were traditional gender norms were a thing and as a result toxic masculinity prevailed (as a latino this was my childhood). Rachel does an amazing job of making this listen compelling, informative, and eye opening all while keeping it accessible.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Great book and great narration but...
Revisado: 11-15-21
So I loved the book just I love everything Shea puts out. If you are a hip-hop head you have to listen and buy the book for your coffee table. My only gripe was the narrator. I mean come on, how do mispronounced rapper names, Pharoh Monch should not be pronounced, MONK. Treach is not TREEEEch. Method Man's Tikal not TEEKILE. Other than that definitely worth every penny.
