Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Not scary
Revisado: 07-16-14
I had high hopes, but it was nowhere as good as The Shining was. Some parts of it were enjoyable, but overall I can't recommend it.

Historia
Part epic of Texas, part classic coming-of-age story, part unflinching examination of the bloody price of power, The Son is a gripping and utterly transporting novel that maps the legacy of violence in the American west with rare emotional acuity, even as it presents an intimate portrait of one family across two centuries. Eli McCullough is just twelve-years-old when a marauding band of Comanche storm his Texas homestead and brutally murder his mother and sister, taking him as a captive.

Looking forward to the movie

By the time you finish this entertaining story you will have learned a lot about the history of Texas without even knowing it. The multiple narrators worked out well. Kate Mulgrew especially was very good.

Historia
A lyrical and authentic book that recounts the story of a border-town family in Brownsville, Texas in the 1980s, as each member of the family desperately tries to assimilate and escape life on the border to become "real" Americans, even at the expense of their shared family history. This is really un-mined territory in the memoir genre that gives in-depth insight into a previously unexplored corner of America.

A very touching coming-of-age story
Revisado: 07-16-14
I now understand what one of my coworkers meant when he said he grew up "in the Valley" and just gave me a strange look, like I would never understand what his early life had been like. After listening to this book, I actually think I have a good idea. The narrator was outstanding. I would play excerpts for my friends, some parts were hilarious. I'm looking forward to his next book.

A very run read with a perfect narrator
Revisado: 07-16-14
I really enjoyed this book, it kept me on my toes all the way through. The narrator's voice reminded me of a British character on the TV series "The Newsroom", her accent was delightful. I would definitely listen to more by this author.

Historia
Robert Littell creates a multigenerational, wickedly nostalgic saga of the ClA - "The Company" to insiders. The fictional and historical characters of Robert Littell's novel reveal much of the nearly 50 years of this complex and powerful organization. At the heart is a mole hunt involving the CIA, M16, KGB, and Mossad, a stunningly conceived trip down the rabbit hole to the labyrinthine Alice-in-Wonderland world of espionage, a "world where things have no names".

So disappointed I gave up
Revisado: 07-16-14
I really wanted to like this book, but I had to give up after I was about half way through. The story was very slow and dull. The narrator made very little voice distinction between any of the characters, so I kept getting them confused.
