Historia
Nyx and his dysfunctional family have finally escaped the clinging, toxic confines of the Flow’s sphincter—aka, a silver-ranked “corrupted gate.” And what better way to celebrate their newfound freedom than a family vacation? One filled with all the classics. Songs, games, epic monsters, unnecessary crafting projects, delicious and gratuitous descriptions of food, flesh-eating bamboo forests, and strange new cities. But, most importantly, family bonding time.

Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it. With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate. The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger. While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble.

I have been a big fan of this series, until this book. This book did nothing to move the story, and bored me to tears. This whole book could have been either a novella, or a few chapters in another book.

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Revisado: 09-17-18
I loved this series, and loved the ending. I'm just saddened that there is at least 1 character whom didn't show up in this book, but was alluded to in the previous book.
Parts of it made me cry, and those were well earned.

Good book, with a rough start
Revisado: 10-11-17
This book has a nice sorry to it, and I'm enjoying the take on the soul, and identity if we're digitized. The thing I most disliked is the extreme brow beating being given to those of a religious belief, as the way they're looked down on, particularly at the beginning.

Not as good as the last one
Revisado: 01-24-17
The author seemed to want to comment on the political atmosphere of 2016, along with how he seems to see that those whom are overly conservative are not up to his standards.
While there were done genuinely entertaining parts of this book, some parts were a slog to get through.
