Historia
In early 2021, popular artist Anna Marie Tendler checked herself into a psychiatric hospital following a year of crippling anxiety, depression and self-harm. Over two weeks, she underwent myriad psychological tests, participated in numerous therapy sessions, connected with fellow patients and experienced profound breakthroughs, such as when a doctor noted, “There is a you inside that feels invisible to those looking at you from the outside.”

Lacking
Revisado: 10-15-24
Im not sure if it was the authors voice which irked me but that was definitely one aspect. I found her hospitalization surface based and disconnected. I wanted to care about her but her rage toward men and her obvious priviledge kept me at arms length.

Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Characters are like sand paper
Revisado: 08-15-24
This is a story that promises to deliver but never does. The male character is so weak he’s cringeworthy. The side stories lend nothing. Super disappointing !

Unfortunate contrivance
Revisado: 06-12-24
I wanted to love this book but found the storyline too contrived.. Could not believe how Angelica came to work for the Fricks after sleeping in the park. Disliked the voice of Helen. Disappointing.

Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

If you’re Depressed — don’t listen
Revisado: 06-10-24
Original story w certain cringe worthy fantasies. Very, very dry humor. Performance is meh. If you like monosyllabic (sp?) nuance - its great! I didnt like the main character which i guess was one of the problems. And using They/Them as a pronoun was a bit contrived to describe their child. Sorry! Maybe im old.

REALLY 3.7 STARS!!!
Revisado: 01-05-23
I thought the beginning of the book to about the midpoint was ok, not bad, a lite storry about a Professional bridesmaid and her failed relationship BUT! Things began to gather steam the minute a certain client is procured. It is SO worth the wait! I literally laughed out loud and wanted more, more, MORE of a certain relationship ( no spoilers here!)I really hope theres a sequel because .... ( nope, not going to say it!)I

Charming, amusing tale of love and family
Revisado: 11-30-22
At first, I did not gel with the narrator, but she grew on me. It's a simple story with the right amount of humor and tension. The main character is a little difficult to like at first because she's in complaint most of the time but as with the narrator, she grows on you. I enjoyed it immensely.

Historia
Florence, the 1550s. Lucrezia, third daughter of the grand duke, is comfortable with her obscure place in the palazzo: free to wonder at its treasures, observe its clandestine workings, and to devote herself to her own artistic pursuits. But when her older sister dies on the eve of her wedding, Lucrezia is thrust into the limelight: the duke is quick to request her hand in marriage, and her father just as quick to accept on her behalf. Having barely left girlhood behind, Lucrezia must make her way in a court whose customs are opaque and where her arrival is not universally welcomed.

Exquisite Writing of a Dark Tragedy
Revisado: 11-15-22
The story is expertly woven back and forth from Lucretzia's upbringing to her present-day terror. It took me a little while to pay attention to dates, but it is this back and forth movement throughout the novel that creates this magnificent drama. It is now one of my favorite books.

Historia
No matter what the world throws her way, at least Ruthie Beamish has the house. Lovingly renovated, located by the sea in a quiet Long Island village, the house is her nest egg - the retirement account shared with her ex-husband, Mike, and the college fund for their teenage daughter, Jem. The catch? To afford the house, Ruthie must let it go during the best part of the year. It's Memorial Day weekend, and Ruthie has packed up their belongings for what Jem calls "the summer bummer": the family's annual exodus to make way for renters.

Complex Characters stand out in this Hamptons vs F
Revisado: 10-29-22
Having family in Long Island, specifically towns just West of where all the action of the Hamptons lies, this story was well thought out, researched and performed. I loved it. It's the regular folks in a privileged, hash tag worthy Billionaire world, and it's the story of a changing world. It's middle-aged angst, and teenage heart ache, it's long lost loves and new love, the sickness of wealth, the betrayal of friends and the twists and turns keep the reader engaged. Again, loved it.
