Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Narrator's accents are terrible, but decent story
Revisado: 04-25-23
There are much better narrators on audible that can provide better breadth of voices as well as quality in consistency when doing different voices. This narrator is not great at breadth or consistency.
The story itself is light and simple. The mysterious kaijus and the faux science behind them as well as their dangerous tendencies are what drive the narrative. Most characters are flat and seem to exist only to emphasize danger, explain Kaiju things, and do specific tasks. The characters unfortunately have the same sense of dad humor and speak similarly. The focal point is not the individual characters but the Kaiju and their preservation.
I probably wouldn't recommend this book to others unless they are big fans of science fiction godzilla creatures :)

Needs updated narration
Revisado: 01-04-22
I think I was spoiled by Rosamund Pike's narration for the first book in this series. I was disappointed in particular by Michael's performance; specifically he struggles with maintaining unique, distinct voices for key characters. The voices also sound like they were recorded twenty years ago (googling it, it looks like they were, give or take a year!). It may be time for a new recording with a contemporary narrator.

Rosamund Pike's narration is absolutely fantastic!
Revisado: 01-04-22
Rosamund Pike's narration is absolutely fantastic! Her voices for each character are distinct, consistent and immersive. I hope she does the other books in this series as well, as the narration in the proceeding books by Kate and Michael is nowhere near this quality.
