Historia
In present-day California, Eleanor Bennett’s death leaves behind a puzzling inheritance for her two children, Byron and Benny: a black cake, made from a family recipe with a long history, and a voice recording. In her message, Eleanor shares a tumultuous story about a headstrong young swimmer who escapes her island home under suspicion of murder. The heartbreaking tale Eleanor unfolds, the secrets she still holds back, and the mystery of a long-lost child challenge everything the siblings thought they knew about their lineage and themselves.

Not my style
Revisado: 12-08-22
I found this audio book to be uninteresting - it just could not hold my attention. The story moved way too slow and the narration was flat. I only managed to listen to about 30 minutes before quitting.

Historia
Two years ago, everything changed for the remaining members of the Seattle rock band Tempest. Two years is a long time. Too long to keep on remembering. Not nearly long enough to forget. In trouble with nowhere else to go, songstress Lace Lowell seeks refuge with the band during their stop in New York City. It's a risky move for her because they are both there, two impossibly good looking men whose lives are inseparably entwined with hers.

Sound effects
Revisado: 09-21-18
This is the first audio I've listened to with sound effects. I found in places it added to the story, but sometimes I wish they'd left them out. Story wise I was happy to see the author give Lacy the ability to become her own person. And Brian's narrator has that low sexy growl down to a science..

Sometimes It was hard to keep all the characters straight as this is a multi layered story, but the story kept moving and kept me guessing. Narrator was perfect for the part.

Historia
Maxwell Knight was dangerously good looking, seductively charming, and definitely trouble. He was everything Jeanella Mefferd did not need now. Fresh out of college, life was predictable and comfortable for Jeanella. She had the strength of her friends and the security of her job, and she was dating a reliable man; it was all smooth sailing. That was until one night, when she met someone who made her feel things she'd never felt before--dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat.

Ok, but not outstanding
Revisado: 06-23-18
The story was pretty much like every other romance book, but not as well written as I would have hoped. It felt like the author was lecturing on the ways of life instead of showing us what life was like. Sometimes a really skilled narrator can save stories like this through their performance, but this narrator didn't have the skill. All in in all this was an average book.

Satisfying conclusion
Revisado: 05-29-18
I really hate when now end like the first one ... In the middle of the story. Most of the time I refuse to purchase the next book, thinking it was done that way simply for sales. This time I broke my rule and was happy i did. I liked the way the Jake character was able to rea!use his feelings especially being a very macho character.. And this narrator was perfect. I hope to find more books by him.

Historia
The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

So long
Revisado: 05-01-18
This is an incredible book. I loved the story through all its turmoil, the description of the suffering that people endured pulled at my emotions. However, about half way through I found myself thinking that a good editor could have improved and shortened this saga by about 10 hours.

Great narration
Revisado: 02-02-18
It's a James Patterson book, through and through. One thing I'll never understand is why he tells us what everyone is wearing. I mean seriously, is the color and style of a shirt really germain to the story?
