Great story, excellent narrator
Revisado: 12-29-24
Great story by Stephen King capturing the 70s small town USA atmosphere inside a classic Dracula storyline, all supported by excellent narration that brings the characters to life.

Historia
When young orphan, Oliver Twist, is sold into an apprenticeship with an undertaker, he leaves behind years of miserable servitude and mistreatment at an English workhouse. Hoping to move on to better things, he decides to escape his new, equally dreary surroundings and head to London. It is there that the novel unravels as Oliver meets a host of larger-than-life characters, including The Artful Dodger, a high-ranking member of a juvenile pickpocketing gang, and their elderly leader, Fagin.

Great book. Eventually at least...
Revisado: 11-03-24
Great book if you manage to get past the first third of it that's just describing misery for the sake of it. The performance is exceptional.

Historia
The fourth book in the Science of Discworld series, and this time around dealing with the really big questions, Terry Pratchett’s brilliant new Discworld story Judgement Day is annotated with very big footnotes (the interleaving chapters) by mathematician Ian Stewart and biologist Jack Cohen, to bring you a mind-mangling combination of fiction, cutting-edge science and philosophy.Marjorie Daw is a librarian, and takes her job – and indeed the truth of words – very seriously. She doesn’t know it, but her world and ours – Roundworld – is in big trouble.

Mostly just condesending
Revisado: 12-27-23
Instead of scientifically exploring the fascinating subject of religion with a genuine interest it spends most of the time talking about how god(s) isn't real in a condescending manner.
The discworld story is very short and the plot is shallow. It still has some good bits though.

The Titans of Legio Invicta, although fresh from combat and in desperate need of refit and repair, respond, committing their own force of war engines to the battle. As the god-machines stride to war, the world trembles, for the devastation they unleash could destroy the very world they have pledged to save.

Good story lacking focus
Revisado: 12-25-22
Great narration, however the book has way too many unrememrable characters adding to the weak focus on the main story. A shorter book with less side stories would have greatly benefited the overall narrative.
