Good Start - Plausible

Enough political intrigue to be believable. The hero relatable and the heroine is yet to be completed. She is new at her position so we don't know how capable she is. The military command chain sounds fairly common.

This is one soldier's perspective

The writer has actual military experience, according to him. I don't whether to take him at his word, or not. I suspect that he is telling you what he experienced; and that's sad. If our military operates like this, we are in trouble. I know President Eisenhower warned to beware of the defense industry. This book does make that point, too. He does make the point that there are some good military personnel, but the upper level commanders were scourged.

A Book for Philosophy Major

Just not my cup of tea. I am not saying he is wrong, but I did not find the psychology interesting enough to continue the series.

I hope book brings it together

I might go to book 2, but she would have to bring the two stories together pretty soon. It just seems like she shuffled to stories together, for no apparent reason. One would need a lot of patience to listen to book 1. I know authors are supposed to be given room to weave the story how ever he/she wants to; but the listener will need to slog through this one to get to a point togetherness.

If you could sum up Swarm in three words, what would they be?

Very good action. I found it entertaining, and believable. It is possible there are other life forms in the Universe, why not? I have only listened to the first of the trilogy, but it was good. I am going to get the others.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Swarm?

When the leader of the rebel forces realized that he couldn't defeat the enemy, as things stood at that time. Maybe later Earth could change things, but not right now.

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

The narrator did a good job, not too "dramatic" and not boring. Good Job.

Not too hard to imagine. It is current, enough, references are recognizable. It discusses the relative merit of "The Greater Good" idea. I will follow this series.

You should try to find and follow the release dates of the books; otherwise you will not understand the references to the past.
Good imagination, good action, good magic.
The dialogue was well presented; not too dramatic, not too bland.
