Historia
They came after the Diseray. Some were terrors ripped from our collective imaginations, remnants of every mythology across the world. And some were like nothing anyone had ever dreamed up, even in their worst nightmares. Now, the luckiest Cits live in enclosed communities, behind walls that keep them safe from the hideous monsters fighting to break through.

Flat Characters
Revisado: 03-18-23
I know writing is hard work, so, I never write a review with intent of disrespecting the author. I’ll start with the pros: I love the concept and the world building is good, action sequences are vivid and well written. Cons: The main character is lacking depth. She’s basically a badass “othersider” hunter who basically becomes increasingly more badass. One of the problems being that she’s a “turnip” from the mountains and dumped into city life at Apex, which she navigates flawlessly. Yawn. Everyone loves her even though she’s not particularly involved with the other characters or witty. Her one enemy doesn’t give her any real flack until the end of book. Again yawn. The character’s inner dialogue is just lacking. I was bored by her. Honestly, it would make a great movie, but fails as a book.

Loved this book!

A Crack in the Rock was well written and entertaining. I loved the narrator’s voice for the king. I was reminded of Sean Connery. The most interesting thing about this story (without giving anything away) is the new perspective I gained through the eyes of the main character. There were several aspects that made me feel as if I were in Old Testament Israel as an eye witness. Loved it!
