Historia
Training men to be ruthless soldiers is a skill at which Highlander Teàrlach MacGregor excels. He can kill three men with nothing but a sword and a couple of daggers. After he rescues a ward of the king, the beautiful Lady Madeline Crawford, the fierce warrior begins to yearn for a cottage of his own in the Highlands, with the sweet, delicate Madeline as the mother of his bairns.

I rarely review but this was worthy of it!
Revisado: 09-23-23
I listen to 2-3 books a week and have done so for about 5 years. I have become tainted because storylines become predicable and romance can become cheesy over time if not well written.
I loved this book. I am embarrassed to admit I almost stopped early on because I thought I knew what was going to happen and thought “same old same old.” I am happy that out of desperation I picked it back up the next day while bored in my doctors offices. So glad I did. This is good writing. The character development is much better than a typical romance novel. I think a great sign is when a book has “inside jokes” tied to characters that make you actually laugh out loud when they appear throughout the story. This book did that to me several times and the story line was not typical and thank goodness did not fall prey to making a jealous woman the plot. I will now proceed to read everything from this author.
Absolutely worth it!

Katria swore she'd never fall in love. She's seen what "love" means through the cruelty of her family. So when she's married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she's leaving. Feelings are off the table. But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult. As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae. When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape.

Self deprecating
Revisado: 08-28-23
I loved the first book in this series. This one I didn’t get far in. The main character seems to be the drama with her low self esteem. That is a turn off for me. I would return but audible has taken the option away.

Finished at 3AM and immediately purchased book 2
Revisado: 02-17-22
I am skeptical of books without lots of reviews. Anyone can find family and friends to review a book to get it to 5 stars with a 100 reviews. This one had more than that but not a an exceptionally high number. I decided to take a chance since it sounded good and it did not disappoint. I am normally an early sleeper, I was so invested I was up until 3AM finishing this book and bought book 2 at 3:02 AM. Needless to say the next day was tough at work but it was worth it! Can’t wait to continue to see where the story goes.

Great change up from Scottish/Duke romances
Revisado: 01-24-21
I needed something a little different because everything was starting to sound the same in my favorite historical Scottish or Duke type romances. This was a great change up. Aside of the drawn out inner monologue (that I find all romances seem to have) I LOVED this story!

Good story, GREAT narrators!
Revisado: 12-17-19
This is a good story, I will absolutely read the next one but there are a few parts I had to fast forward through. I get really bored when a character goes into a world of self doubt (several times). The meeting is creative and believable as the story unfolds. The cliffhanger ending really got me especially when I realized the next book is not yet released. Anything narrated by Sebastian York has a high likelihood of being good just based on his voice and Ava Erickson is a great narrator as well, they make the story even better.

I met Bianca in an elevator. She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck. The beautiful raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed. She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she'd dubbed "Mister Moneybags" - her afternoon appointment. Bianca told me how much she hated Dex's type - snobby, over-educated, silver-spooned men who didn't appreciate the simple things in life.

Loved, loved, loved, this book!! It made me laugh out loud several times and live the anxiety of the characters. Surprised it was in the romance package since it could easily command a high price. Avid reader (three a week). Great characters, lots of hot sexual tension, good story and great narrators!

Love everything about this book!
Revisado: 04-05-19
I enjoyed this entire series but this book has stayed at the top of my playlist; I have listened to it multiple times when I fall asleep at night because I do not get tired of it. I do think you need to listen to the entire series to get the full experience of the character development. The characters are fabulous and unique, they are very well written so the book does not have a down period that many romance novels seem to have where the characters get in their own heads and irritate the reader (when they get in their own way). It finds a few ways to be unpredictable, which again is hard to do in a romance novel. The first few chapters has one of my favorite all time steamy scenes (which is ironic because it's actually rated G, but its that well written). If you are looking for a well written book with good steamy scenes this is a great pick!

Life for Victoria Lacey should be perfect. And it is - perfectly boring. Agree to marry a lord who has yet to inspire a single, solitary tingle? Why, of course. Smile as though this is not the thousandth time he's mentioned hounds and hunting? It's all in a day's work for the oh-so-proper sister of the Duke of Blackmore. Surely no one would suspect her secret longing for heart-racing, head-spinning passion. Except, perhaps, a dark stranger...on a terrace...at a ball where she should definitely not be kissing a man she has only just met.

Great story, characters and steamy scenes!
Revisado: 04-05-19
I am an audible addict, I typically go through a book every 1.5 days and this is the first review I have ever written. I really enjoyed this book. The narrator did an excellent job, the characters are interesting, the plot is a bit different than the typical romance novel as they can tend to seem similar after a while, and the author does a great job with the steamy scenes! I often times find myself skipping through a few minutes of books when I hit the 75% mark of romance novels (characters are too self indulgent, woeful) but I was in this book every minute.
