This is book 5 of the Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett. I love all six books in this series. This is historical fiction at its best. You should start at book one, and listen to them all in order. David Monteath is absolutely the best reader/performer of audio books I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve listened to many. This series is a joy to listen to.

This may be my favorite of the Lymond Chronicles, but they are all smart, funny, dramatic and i love every word..The reader is wonderful too, and he fortunately performs all six books of the series.
