Historia
Carter Ash wakes up with no memories in a virtual basic training. All the recruits will die within the next six weeks. Lucky for them, they’ve all got three lives. He’s assigned to a squad with his goofy friend and another captivating cadet, Iris. They have to keep each other alive as long as possible because when they die, they get assigned their permanent character class. And everyone in the squad wants a valuable class, ideally the kind where you don’t get killed immediately.

Disappointing, But Still Arguably Good.
Revisado: 11-03-24
I very much enjoyed this book. At least up until the last 3ish hours.
Some "SPOILERS"
(Read at your own discretion)
My biggest issue is when the A..Hole bully shows up at the end of the book. I was more than a bit pissed that our MC didn't immediately kill the troublemaker. When lives are literally on the line why would you risk letting such a dangerous individual live anywhere within your proximity. And we all know that driving him away would only make the A..Hole more dangerous in the future when you aren't prepared to face him. There is only one way to deal with such people no matter how distasteful a person might find the act.
My other issues with the ending mostly revolve around the poor decisions that the team makes. All of which culminate in the deaths of almost everyone when in my opinion it could've been avoided(at least mostly). For instance, why does the MC's friend die to the giant croc. Honestly the way it was set up made no sense. Other than it was an excuse to get the MC alone with all of his female teammates. If tweeked slightly the whole thing could've worked, but instead it felt like the author was rushing to the conclusion.
My second biggest gripe is, why did they surrender the high ground without putting up a true fight to keep it. Even if the enemy has artillery it is still more advantageous to secure the high ground and hold it at all costs. Especially given the climate conditions of the situation. It certainly drove me up a wall when the team later talks about needing to retake their home base because they knew the location was so important. I nearly screamed at my phone, "of course it's important you idiots, isn't that why you risked it to take that base in the first place."
Then immediately after "losing" their home base rather than focus on the enemies who are killing you the group attacks a different powerful enemy force and of course are repeatedly ambushed by the original enemy. The whole premise of that portion of the story is just badly written in my opinion.
BIG SPOILER
The ending was somewhat predictable. I had hoped the reward would be more than what he got. Sure a Unique extra class is good but it hardly felt like enough. But the most cringeworthy part was the assigned class itself. Hero(in training). The other guy gets "Destroyer" and our MC gets the most boring, generic class type ever devised. While I personally was hoping he would receive something like "Harem Master", lol, due to his relationships with the many women surrounding him I honestly would've been fine with just about any other class title.
Overview.
So overall, I enjoyed this Audiobook far more than many of the other new authors I've listened to recently, but I thought it could've been alot better if a bit more work had been put in to more cleanly make the ending come together.

Historia
The thousand-year-old Imperium era is drawing to a close, and the threat of war and violence hangs over the land. With no magic or wealth, Lansius has to face this new reality on his own. Well, mostly. The squire Stefi is at his side as he leaves his new home to march with young Lord Arte against the invaders. When Lansius is separated from Stefi and their liege, he faces his greatest challenge yet: taking command of a ragtag group of misfits as they battle to save their people. And as he reluctantly climbs the ranks of power, others flock to his banner seeking glory or safety.

Oh Boy Did I Have Issues With This One.
Revisado: 07-01-24
If you don't mind glaring holes in logic and an MC with little to no ambition then then this Audiobook is for you.
My first major issue with this story was when our MC joins the Lordling's Retinue. Only he doesn't actually follow the Lord anywhere.
Retinue definition= a group of advisers, assistants, or others accompanying an important person.
I can just imagine how useful our MC would be if he was actually being an advisor to his Liege Lord. Only instead of being useful our MC spends all winter marching and hunkering down with the common troops. No reason given.
Then our MC's Squire. Still not sure exactly why he has a Squire, but whatever. His Squire says she doesn't have the money for her own Dowry to get married. CONFUSED?? I certainly am, given that's not how Dowrys actually work. Not to mention the fact that she isn't nobility in the first place so she wouldn't need a Dowry to attract a husband.
Oh, and then there is the Squire's former mistress. A female Knight. I have nothing against a female knight. However in Midieval times being a Knight usually implies that they are a minor Landowner in service to their Lord. I have so many questions in regards to why this city dwelling woman was considered a knight. Not that it gets explained. Because it doesn't.
And then there is the whole war scenario. Major is is retaken from the enemy. Awesome. How? Dunno. MC was stuck in a barn. It feels like we are following a background character. He has no ambition beyond holding down a stable job and moves through the story like he is just along for the ride.
And I won't even ask why he needs to escape his warehouse building by climbing down a mossy rock wall when he could just walk out the front door. The second siege hasn't even started yet. Why would anyone care if he left the building. So stupid.
I couldn't continue after nearly 4 hours of near boredom.

I just couldn't like it.
Revisado: 06-25-24
While it was far from the worst Audiobook I've listened to I couldn't continue after the first two hours. There were far too many little inconsistencies that broke my immersion into the story.
For instance. Keep is under attack. Lord Grey kills attackers with the help of some patrolling guards. So of course those guards would stay with him and protect their Lord while attempting to rescue other famy members. Even if he is the grey sheep he is still a member of the Main family. But no. The Guards go back to patrolling. Why? No Idea.
Far too many of these issues crop up for me to enjoy this book.

Until a freak rainstorm somehow transports the entire platoon—Humvees, weapons, and all—to another world. A world controlled by a wicked Aztec god. The Land of the Black Sun. In a heartbeat, the Scouts find themselves fighting for their lives against savage beasts, witches, zombies, subhuman tribes seeking sacrifices… and even themselves.

Good Audiobook At First Glance but Worsens As You Get Deeper
Revisado: 03-21-24
I enjoyed most of this Story, however there were far too many spots where I shook my head in dismay at the idiocy of their decisions. Many choices the Soldiers made seemed to be a bad idea to me. They seemed to ignore certain obvious things when it became necessary to dumb them down to advance the Plot of the Story.
SPOILERS
Your local guide tells you the Ancient Dead City is haunted and you not only ignore their warnings but decide to make camp inside a Temple Crypt. Does that sound smart to you, especially when you already know that Undead exist and Possession is a real threat.
Note( I'm writing this next part before even finishing the book and learning the truth.)
(A few hours further into the Story these Observations are proven true.)
Then there is the whole joining the American nation thing. As soon as I hear that the Leader came to this world with several CIA guys I begin to question exactly how Moral this man is. Any American officer who goes on Black Op missions for the CIA is probably no stranger to Assassinations and other shady shenanigans. Untrustworthy if you ask me. Then they tell me that this man has an Artifact that can replicate almost any item and that it is operated by the priests. Aztec Priests. So I immediately ask myself, "Who are they sacrificing for such a magically intensive Artifact to work". Yet not a one of our MC's can make that logical supposition. Are none of them suspicious of their supposedly innocent employer. Especially when our Main Character keeps on complaining about the gross feeling he is getting from his new equipment. Equipment made by said Unknown Artifact.
There are other examples of flawed storytelling but these are the most obvious examples of character intelligence being sacrificed in exchange for furthering the plot of the Story.
My last complaint involves the romantic relationship between our MC and his Amazonian Love Interest. I have to call Bullshi*. Their overall relationship is fine. But then she is suddenly given Military Rank, incorporated into the unit and their relationship is considered Fraternization(Taboo). Give me a break. These people brushed under the rug the fact that their own men committed unauthorized Executions and mass Murder of Enemy Non-Combatants. Why the hell would anyone care about interpersonal relationships after that. I find it hard to believe that our Main Character doesn't have the balls to man up and ignore these inapplicable military regulations. This whole situation seems to be solely designed by the Author to slow down their romance for the sake of the Story Plotline. In my opinion all it accomplishes is to make the story worse by adding something it didn't need and make the MC look Weaker Willed than he already was.
While hardly the worst Audiobook I've ever heard, I am absolutely certain this Story could've been so much less frustrating if the Author had spent more time ironing out the kinks. Specifically when it came to understanding the Minds of Experienced Soldiers.

I very much looked forwards to listening to this Audiobook and I wasn't disappointed. In my opinion the Author does an excellent job of keeping his audience engaged and eager for more.
The only issue I had with it was that the Narrator (T.A.P) decided to whisper the majority of the Audiobook. While not outright bad it was a bit irritating. Still, dispite this oddity I enjoyed this Audiobook as much as the earlier books.

Excellent but Slightly Lacking a Perfect Score
Revisado: 12-10-23
This Series Finale was admittedly a good one and the performance given by Luke Daniels was once again top notch.
However I was somewhat disappointed in several respects.
The most important of which was "SPOILER ALERT".
Never learning the fate that befell the former people of the GCA. Especially when our MC was in the perfect position to discover that information. But apparently it will remain a mystery that will last till the Heat Death of the Universe.

Outstanding
Revisado: 11-17-23
Outstanding is a word I don't use lightly when leaving a Review. And yet it is the most fitting word I could find to describe how good I thought this Audiobook is.
I found this latest installment of the Wandering Inn to be so good I couldn't stop listening to it. To the point that I was getting less sleep just to continue.
Getting to see the Strength of Magnolia and the other Ladies of her Faction was quite something. It really set the pace for the rest of the book and I was once again blown away with how real the overall World feels.
Keep up the Great Work PirateAba and Andrea Parsneau.

Great Story... But Has Issues.
Revisado: 10-15-23
Just like the first 2 Books of this Series I Really like this Audiobook and I would still recommend it unless you are a bit squeamish when it comes to Overly Destriptive Gore. However there are more than a few things that annoyed me about this Book.
[Some Spoilers]
The first was during the Assassination attempt. Like Hell the Bodyguards protecting the Potential Victim wouldn't react to a Person in Plain Sight Drawing a Gun. The way the Situation was laid out Rang Hollow to Me.
The Next Dumb thing that Annoyed the Hell out of Me is When the Convoy Decides to Ambush their Attackers with Night Vision Gear. There were Multiple issues with this, Starting with the Convoy's Lack of Initial Caution about the Enemies that were Gathering for an Attack. Which lead to Multiple of their Number being Gunned down. Stupid but Okay. Then for some reason one of our Main Characters is not given a set of NVG's for the Nighttime Assault. This made absolutely no sense considering that the Convoy had already lost a Number of Soldiers who Should've had sets of Night Vision Goggles. Then during the Assault itself our MC's Witness the Bad Guys Bring out a Heavy Weapon that could cause Major Trouble and they ignore it and the Dangerous Sniper Accompanying it until the Bad Guys start causing Serious Damage. Why?? I have no Idea. Makes no Tactical sense. Then to My Dismay this Scene Ends with our people letting the Surviving Enemies Go. Again Why??? Apparently just, Because.... It doesn't seem to matter anymore that these Killers are responsible for Murdering several Members of the Convoy and several of the Civilian Scientists. Stupid.
One Minute our MC's are saying that they'll Kill all the Evil Bastards and the Next Instance their just letting Enemies Go to Continue Their Pillaging Ways and attack them a second time. Like I Said, it's Annoying to have such Inconsistencies and Oversights in Judgment. Towards the End of this Audiobook I was Practically Yelling at the Characters to get a Clue and Not Underestimate Your Enemies.
Still A Good Book, but it needs a serious Rewrite in Multiple Places.

I Call Bull****! "SPOILERS"
Revisado: 10-08-23
I really enjoyed the Start of this Audiobook but everything seemed to fall apart once the Army is ordered to Move West.
This Story has taken a bad turn where people no longer think through their Decisions. Specifically when it comes to Leaving Fort Riley and Mark's hesitation to shoot his Infected Soldier which Of Course ends with that Soldier killing another of his Men. That and other Incidents, like how our MC forgets to turn on his Radio during a Major Operation makes him look incompetent.
Why Would The Army Leave their Home Base Without taking Everything they possibly could. That whole Plot Point Seems Contrived. "AN ARMY MARCHES ON IT'S STOMACH" and they decide the best they can do is bring enough for 3 days. Not Possible. Think Again. There is No Way the Army would Leave Without Taking Everything they required or have an exact plan on where and how they would get exactly what they need. The Train idea was actually a Good one but they discard the idea so quickly when in truth it is one of their best options. They would have to scout ahead anyways, so their Forward Units can repair and do Maintenance on the Railroads as they slowly moved Everything across the Country. They could even use intermodle box cars to easily switch to using Trucks if Necessary.
The Army should be doing everything with a Minimum Expendature of Supplies and Risk to their Personel. I don't see any reason why All their major engagements with the undead shouldn't involve a Booming Loudspeaker to attract the Dead and Heavy Vehicles driving in Circles to Kill their enemies. It might take all day to Smush a City's Worth of Undead but it's a Hell of alot safer and less expensive than the Way they Are Doing Things.

The Action Sequences are Excellent, the Characters are Interesting although it sometimes seems that there are Too Many Names to Keep Track of and the Overall Story is Very Good. The Only Thing Missing in My Opinion was Romance. I Hope this First Book is just a Setup for Mark to Find Romance in Book 2. Nothing Completes a Zombie Story More than Raw Lust and Bare Emotions.
