Historia
Columnist Anna Appleby has left her love life behind after a painful divorce. Who needs a man when she has two kids, a cat, and uncontested control of the TV remote? Besides, she’d rather be single than subject herself to the hell of online dating. But her office rival is vying for her column, and no column means no stable source of income. In a desperate attempt to keep her job, Anna finds herself pitching a unique angle: seven dates, all found offline, chosen by her children.

Excellent post divorce romance..
Revisado: 02-10-25
One of my all time romance favs is Cousins book- Can u keep a secret? I have not really enjoyed any Cousins book over the last few years as much. This book is very different but excellent and equally as good in its own way. The characters are engaging and their relationship develops in a natural way. I initially worried there would be too much divorce angst discussion but it is more about adjustment to moving on after divorce in a realistic fashion. I really liked the story and the performance.

Life and love story
Revisado: 09-05-24
The subject matter is a little scary much like Me Before You (Jojo book) but it is a beautiful story and well developed romance and excellent character growth. A conditional HEA but isn’t that life. Excellent read

Chess mates
Revisado: 08-09-24
I had been considering this book since it was released. But because it was designated as YA and I am far from that age group, i was convinced I wouldn't like it. However, I have read the author's other books and enjoyed them so I gave it a try. The FC is definately an adolescent and her growing pains were hard to relate to ( to remember ..lol). But I was intrigued with the story of chess competitors and the MC was very interesting. Actually I wish the author had spent more time on his story. The romance was well done and engaging. Perfomance was excellent and once the FC grew up some the story got much better.

Love-Hate Story
Revisado: 06-04-24
I fell in and out of love with this book. I like the sophisticated characters that are more complicated than found in your typical romance book. There was emotional growth on the part of the FC and MC that slowly developed into a mature love.
The FC was pretty snarky but darkly humorous at times. The MC and his quietness was a good balance to her and he grew on you especially after you meet his family. Add in some well-done Irish accents and it was a good listen.
What I didn't like about it and this is personal, is the divorce portion of the story and that is only because I have been through it. I didnt really like rehashing someone else'e misery but that came to a positive conclusion..not so sure how realistic that is ..but was part of the HEA.

Fun Listen
Revisado: 04-01-24
I loved this book. It was funny and I laughed out loud several times. The performance was excellent and the narrators voiced the characters well. The premise was a creative new trope. Character banter was very witty and clever. The side characters were amusing as well. It is moderately spicy and a very enjoyable romance.

Game of Thrones meets Hunger Games
Revisado: 08-14-23
I am a mature reader and usually avoid YA books but this was an excellent and highly creative story. On a par with Divergent, Hunger Games, and other fantasy stories that appeal to all ages. The performance was very good..Ironically the male voice at the end of book is one of my favorite book narrators but isn't how I visualized the MC..this narrator has a "smile" in his voice and I visualize this MC as a gruffer, tougher guy with a hidden romantic side but that is nit picking. Earlier reviews commented on the female narrator sounding sick..this has been fixed. This is the first in a series..so a cliff hanger..

Military Love Story
Revisado: 04-26-23
This is the second book in this series that I have read. I enjoyed Book 1 and this book. They are love stories about a family of amazing men ( handsome, kind, family oriented, protectors ( all in military or public service) and how they find love. Their love interests are feisty, intelligent, and beautiful women. There are sexy bits - not too explicit but plentiful. There are issues and angst with some heavy subjects but that is a good compliment to the sweetness of the romances (after a long slow burn)
This book centers on the military community and I was struck by the closeness and support they show one other in the face of tragedy and their willingness to sacrifice for their country. I believe that many career military families are like this.
I love any narration with accents and of course Irish are high on the list. I marvel at women narrators who do a good job with men's voices and different accents which this book has plenty of. This narrator did an excellent job. Some reviewers quibbled with the authenticity of the different accents but it didn't bother me..only the hicky Southern accent bothered me.
My one quibble with this author is that her books are crazy long. Maybe shorten them or write multiple stories.
I would love to listen to other books in this series but am deterred by their length. At least you get a lot of listen for a credit.

Mature love story
Revisado: 02-11-23
I really enjoyed this love story. The main characters are mature people working through personal issues who find love.
Their journey is a slow one but is good for those people who hate stories where people jump immediately into bed upon first sight. Speaking of bed, no explicit descriptions of sex in this book if you need that. Good character evolution and development in this story. This is definately a literary romance with hightly intelligent main characters ala Emily Henry. I also enjoyed the performance - always a sucker for accents from the British isles.

A Shen story ?
Revisado: 02-01-23
I haven’t read all of Shen - too old for her high school/ college tales but have read several others with a REAL devil in black tamed by a sweet female. This one was same trope but the devil was sarcastic / funny and the humor seemed like a new thing to the point where I wondered if she wrote it. A little too long maybe but I enjoyed it. I think it would be more fun for listening rather than reading. IMO

Slow burn romance
Revisado: 12-21-22
I loved this story. Slow burn romance where feelings grew thru friendship instead of instant sex. I am a sucker for accents so this story was more entertaining to listen to. Also the body image discussions were so uplifting. Low on the steam meter but the interesting story didn’t need it.
