Historia
Not only do Southerners talk slowly, but sometimes the whole language is hard to understand. No one realizes that more than Memphis belle Leelee Satterfield. Watching her tackle life and love in Vermont was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to antics, charades, mischief, and romance. Now that she’s back in Memphis, and starting a new relationship with Peter, the Yankee chef from her New England inn, you’d think she’d sit back and enjoy her newly crafted life back home in Dixie. But that just wouldn’t be as much fun.

Should have stopped at the second book.
Revisado: 04-23-14
What would have made Southern As A Second Language: A Novel better?
The author could have taken the story more seriously and actually let LeeLee develop and grow a little instead of acting like a 17 year old all her life. Growing up southern isn't an excuse for stupidity.
What was most disappointing about Lisa Patton’s story?
There was no story.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lisa Patton?
The narrator for the 2nd book, Marguerite Gavin or just about anyone else. Every male character sounded like a version of Elmer Fudd and while that was ok for the character of Riley, Peter, LeeLee's father or any other male shouldn't have sounded the same.
What character would you cut from Southern As A Second Language: A Novel?
Riley. There is only so much a person can take of that kind of irritation.
Any additional comments?
I almost didn't finish this book, not only because of the writing but especially because of the narration. It got so bad I had to finish reading a text copy of the book just to get to the end.

Not Willett's best
Revisado: 11-27-12
What would have made Christmas in Cornwall better?
First, the technical problems of the chapters out of order and then no ending would have helped but the story was a bit tedious and the repeated worries about the same old things got tiresome. I love Marcia Willett but this book just didn't do her justice. She could also limit her use of the word peripatetic.
Has Christmas in Cornwall turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
What character would you cut from Christmas in Cornwall?
None
Any additional comments?
I wish I would have seen the review about the technical problems before I purchased this book.
