Confusing at first, but overall great
Revisado: 03-29-23
I felt as though I was thrown into the world with little explanation on the different races and found that a bit confusing. I also found the MC, Bryce's personality a bit hard to like until way, way, late into the book. however the rest of the characters made up for it.
I also found the Narrator to be overall good, however I had no idea one of the characters was a Mer until I looked it up online because she pronounced it like "mare" and that had me going "Wtf!"

Historia
In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Beautiful, But a tad slow
Revisado: 08-21-22
I loved Song of Achilles and was very excited to listen to this one.
Story-wise, it's pretty great for the most part and I love how Madeline Miller goes through Circe's life. It feels pretty accurate from the research I've known, and I love seeing Greek Mythos told from a woman's perspective.
I think in a way it was a bit slow for my taste, so if you prefer more action, this may not be the story for you.
the Last few chapters of the book felt extremely anti climactic and it took me days to actually finish the book because I was so bored with it.
as far as Narration, Perdita Weeks has a beautiful voice that is honey on your ears to listen to, however in some parts it felt like she was mumbling a bit and it was hard to hear. she also spoke a tad slow, which may have also made the story felt slower to me.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

if you're like me and we're dreading reading this book due to not being a fan of Nesta...
well, this book has ended up being my favorite. the writing was fantastic, the storyline is well done. the spice is much spicier! and the perspective is really great. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
and, just be aware of a mild SA trigger warning in chapter 68.

Fantastic continuation

The new narrator did a great job and after a while I forgot that it was even a different one from the first two.
The story was on par with the first two books. It keeps you hooked in, and there is a great balance of conversation and action. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! | Greek Mythology & the Ancient Mediterranean

Historia
The most entertaining and enraging stories from mythology (and, now, ancient history of the Mediterranean) told casually, contemporarily, and (let's be honest) sarcastically. Greek and Roman gods did some pretty weird (and awful) things. Gods, goddesses, heroes, monsters, and everything in between. Regular episodes every Tuesday, conversations with authors and scholars or readings of ancient epics every Friday. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
