Historia
Barbara Butcher was early in her recovery from alcoholism when she found an unexpected lifeline: a job at the Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City. The second woman ever hired for the role of Death Investigator in Manhattan, she was the first to last more than three months. The work was gritty, demanding, morbid, and sometimes dangerous—and she loved it. In What the Dead Know, she writes with the kind of New York attitude and bravado you might expect from decades in the field, investigating more than 5,500 death scenes, 680 of which were homicides.

Could not finish
Revisado: 08-03-23
This book started out okay enough. This would have been my second book by The Warrens however I could not finish it. Started to get boring and with a couple of hours left, I decided to not waste anymore of my time. Speaking of which, you mean to tell me that you and your family were haunted from 1974-1989, you searched all over creation for help and even went to the church you were apart of since childhood and they turned you away?! Then to top it off the only real explanation for the haunting was teenage hormones?! Normally I'm not a skeptic because I do believe in spiritual warfare but this was pushing it.

Historia
For decades, Fred Burton was a key figure in international counterterrorism and domestic spy craft. As a member of the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service in the mid 1980s, he was on the front lines of America's first campaign against terror. Now, in this hard-hitting memoir, Burton emerges from the shadows to reveal who he is, what he has accomplished, and the threats that lurk unseen except by an experienced, world-wise few. Told in a no-holds-barred, gripping, nuanced style, this behind-the scenes account of one counterterrorism agent's life and career is a riveting listen.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

It still amazes me how far we have come as a society and yet some things will never change. I love the retelling of the courage, strength and perseverance of the men and women in this fight. This was well written. The narration was pitch perfect as well! Excellent beginning to end!

Revisado: 09-21-20
This is one of those books that starts slow. You’ll find yourself wondering what the point of every story within a story is...but just keep going. This is one of those books that the ending explains the beginning. Oh and the voice actor is phenomenal too. Who or what is he exactly? A spirit? The devil? A Djinn? The possibilities are endless.
