Historia
Everything about Lilah Stohler is dark: her clothes, her mood, and her outlook on life and death. That last part is important because Lilah’s father has just retired and left her in charge of Stohler’s Funeral Home. But Abel Stohler knows his daughter’s comfort level rests “downstairs”, so he hires one Sparkle Lee Sink to help Lilah manage the living part of the business of death. Sparkle is everything that Lilah isn’t—an empathetic marketing whiz who is a true people person.

Clever Story!
Revisado: 09-10-24
Ann McMan never fails to entertain. Her cast of characters, often quirky yet good-hearted are a delight. The setting p, a mortuary/funeral home , would not normally seem a place of adventure, but this one is. Christine Williams, as always is genius in her narration. Get the book!

Historia
On February 17, 2022, Brittney Griner arrived in Moscow ready to spend the WNBA offseason playing for the Russian women’s basketball team where she had been the centerpiece of previous championship seasons. Instead, a security checkpoint became her gateway to hell when she was arrested for mistakenly carrying under one gram of medically prescribed hash oil. Brittney’s world was violently upended in a crisis she has never spoken in detail about publicly—until now.

Compelling Story
Revisado: 07-02-24
What an intense story! From being stopped at the airport, confused as to the reason, and a language barrier. It was gut wrenching and scary. Freezing cold, unclean, and despicable living condition were survived because a couple of women befriended her. So glad Brittany’s wife and so many others fought so hard for her to be released and so glad they were successful. Through all she endured, ultimately she triumphed with the help of so many who advocated for. A definite must read.

Revisado: 01-14-24
I LOVED this book! I was intrigued from the prologue. Her narration is perfect with wonderful asides with her often humorous inflection. As I listened, it often felt as if she were in the room chatting with a friend. That is a special spin and another example of her talent. Get the book and let Barbra take you on the journey of her very interesting life.

Historia
Neve Blackthorne, head of one of the most successful Studios in Hollywood, is the one to rule them all. Powerful, beautiful, and aloof, she's ruthless, yet irresistible. Above all, she has an unquenchable survival instinct. Surely a fleeting entanglement with one Audrey Avens, a bright, young, rising star in her company, won't bring down the Wicked Queen of Tinseltown. Or will it? Neve's public persona has no chink in the untouchable armor, but when the lights go out and the cameras stop rolling, what becomes of an Ice Queen whose heart is ruled by love and fear?

Captivating Story!
Revisado: 12-02-22
Milena McKay is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Add Abby Craden to the mix and it is like a present that keeps giving. McKay is a powerful writer, who intertwines her story with characters who present all human feelings: lust, power, fear, deception, arrogance, loyalty, and love. Neve is the ice queen, who melts little by little as she learns about herself through therapy. Abby Craden narrates Neve’s transformation from a powerful, yet vulnerable woman who ultimately learns her own worth. An excellent story! Get it!

Good Story!
Revisado: 07-15-22
I usually like MB books, and this was no exception. When we meet Astor Lavender, she is shy in social situations, but a genius in her donut-making business.she meets Brynn, the new, but temporary veterinary and sparks begin for both of them. Of course it is the journey for both characters that matter and it is told well. MB has developed to caring, emotional, but guarded characters. The story is well narrated by Lula Larkin. IMO, it is a winner!

Historia
One sunny Spring morning, EJ's simple life is turned upside down when the town's master gardener unceremoniously hands her a stack of handwritten letters that have all been addressed to a nonexistent person at the garden. This simple act sets in motion a chain of events that will lead EJ on a life-altering quest to uncover the identity of the mysterious letter writer―and into a surprising head-on confrontation with the harsh realities of the racial injustice that is as deeply rooted in the life of her community as the ancient herbs cultivated in the Moravian garden.

Revisado: 07-02-22
Ann McMan is a gifted writer. She creates quirky, likable characters and weaves various themes throughout the story. EJ’s mission to find the author of a set of undeliverable letters written by the same hand opens her up for self discovery, opening her heart to new people and expanding her social network, and learning about her own strength. Christine Williams is superb as narrator. I highly recommend this book,

Historia
Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Brooke Watson has known Taylor for her entire life, and lifelong knowledge means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive.

Revisado: 06-02-22
In the Long Run was a little longer than necessary. While the length of the story allowed for history and character development, it often repeated issues the characters were experiencing. That said, I liked the book. Anastasia Watley was good as narrator. What I enjoyed was free-spirited Taylor learning so much about herself and how she needed to be around family and Brook. And Brook, who is high strung, dealing with buried feelings about her family, and a lifetime crush with Taylor learned to accept her feelings and grow.
And Haley Cass is a talented writer, who know how to spin a story.

NYPD Detectives Chiara Corelli and P.J. Parker are assigned what should be a straight-forward murder investigation. Revisado: 04-30-22
I have become a huge fan of Catherine Maiorisi’s Chiara Corelli “In Blood” series. The characters have grown and shifted from the first book. In this investigation Corelli has PJ Parker take the lead in what turns out to be a tale of a twisted, ruthless family of bigots plotting murder and more. And Abby Craden is, as ever, perfect as narrator. I say: GET THE BOOK!

Great Book!
Revisado: 04-26-22
The Headmistress was my second book by Milena McKay and it was another winner. The VMCs are well developed and more in common than what their initial meetings would show. Sam - smart, sweet, quirky, but with an underlying strength and fire when necessary; Magdalena- brilliant, brutal, acerbic with deep compassion and fire. They are well matched.each has ties to the history of Dragons and each is driven to save the crumbling school. And Abby Craden is the perfect narrator. Her multi distinct voices and layered performance is riveting. Get the book!
