Historia
In 1943, as the war against Nazi Germany raged abroad, President Franklin Roosevelt had a critical goal: a face-to-face sit-down with his allies Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill. This first-ever meeting of the Big Three in Tehran, Iran, would decide some of the most crucial strategic details of the war. Yet when the Nazis found out about the meeting, their own secret plan took shape—an assassination plot that would’ve changed history.

Engaging and Entertaining
Revisado: 01-29-23
I enjoyed this book considerably. It was full of interesting background facts I had not encountered before in books about WW2. And, of course, Scott Brick was the perfect performer to deliver it. Highly recommend.

Historia
It's 1962, and young Sam Andrews just moved to Utah from Arizona. A tall, overweight, semi-clumsy outsider, he's still trying to fit in with the neighborhood boys. When discussion about sledding down the infamous Mill Street begins, Sam pipes in and says he'll do it. The problem is, he has seen snow only in pictures and has never ridden a sled. And to top it all off, Mill Street is practically a vertical drop, with two deadly curves.

Yes. It is a LONG audio book. Yet the reader was so extraordinary that I looked forward with eager anticipation to the next installment even though I knew the brilliance of Dumas’ characters and descriptions of this remarkable novel. I will definitely listen to it again.

Confidence: Your Birthright as a Child of God is a joyful affirmation of the divine truth that human beings are the spiritual children of God. Before any other, this truth is the key to grounded and durable self-assurance. In the age of picture-perfect Instagram posts and hyper-competition, it’s easy to feel self-doubt. Instead of pressing forward with confidence and hope, we might pull back, unconvinced of our potential.

A Brilliant Reminder
Revisado: 11-09-21
What a glorious heritage we have. We are sons and daughters of God and part of an Eternal family. The author sweetly and masterfully explores that promise. As she does so, she gives place for God’s spirit to renew, remind or reawaken what was planted in our soul when we left God to experience mortality. Well done.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Written at the request of Charles Dickens, North and South is a book about rebellion that poses fundamental questions about the nature of social authority and obedience. Gaskell expertly blends individual feeling with social concern and her heroine, Margaret Hale, is one of the most original creations of Victorian literature. When Margaret Hale's father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience she is forced to leave her comfortable home in the tranquil countryside of Hampshire....

At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Joyous
Revisado: 12-10-20
Listening to this classic tale rendered so ably by a marvelous actor is such a joy during the holiday season. Every word penned by Dickens in A Christmas Carol is profound. It is insufficient to simply watch a movie or a television program which picks and chooses the dialog. Bravo. Hurrah. God bless Mr. Dickens and Mr. Curry.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Heroic

This book is a great reminder of that men and women are capable of incredible and heroic actions. The narrator was stellar and the production very good. But nothing is quite so engaging as to the author’s written description of courage, tenacity and grit.
