This book is #1 for anyone interested in philosophy or politics, in any whatever sense. should be required reading in highschool. yes, it is absolutely full of uninteresting informatiin that isnt totally relevant anymore, but there are a good deal of original concepts that shoukd stand at the fore of any ideological mindset.

basically, if you DONT read and study this, youre just a petty slave in my mind.

The initial philosophy of "freemen" in "free society" presented in first chapter was quickly forgotten in discussion asserting the status quo. did not directly address whats really important in marxist theory regarding question of economic theory. did not address Consumerism as sociopolitical and economic ideaology (Consumerism being the more present phase of capitalist evolution). was largely economic theory that really wasnt crucial , just 'filler'. this is really just the status quo for the average ignorant, brainwashed american,. enjoy your freedom, zombies - you dont even have to think for yourselves anymore. just listen to this and feel smart. you dont have to read plato, aristotle, hegel, marx, nietzschs, etc etc.... youre educated enough, 'freeman'

Trash for zombies

I couldnt bear to listen to this ignorant trash after chapter 4. as quite the 'neo-fascist' myself, i would expect a history of fascist philosophy as beginning first with plato and aristotle, then growing through the philosophical tradition of german idealism, from pre- to post-hegelian philosophers, including marx and nietzsche, and then the ww2 culminations in italy and germany. he didnt even mention giovanni gentile. instead this author is stuck in contemporary politics as a zombie observer, failing to ask or discuss the truly pivotal questions. its embarrassing that this author pretends to any kind of authority, and is a perfectly good example of current american zombie-ism.

the history of philosophy time in the first half of the book was interesting, and I learned a few things, but the second half involves discussions on a few embarrassing themes -- a desperate grasping for conceptual innovation that fails miserably (ie drivel typical academic Philosophy)
