Historia
The construct of race has always been used to gain and keep power, to create dynamics that separate and silence. This remarkable reimagining of Dr. Ibram X. Kendi's National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning reveals the history of racist ideas in America, and inspires hope for an antiracist future. It takes you on a race journey from then to now, shows you why we feel how we feel, and why the poison of racism lingers. It also proves that while racist ideas have always been easy to fabricate and distribute, they can also be discredited.

A must read for every human being. The reading of the text by Reynolds is phenomenal. The facts are presented in a way that is easy to understand, especially for younger readers. The way to in which the text is organized adds to its impact and readability. Empowering, thought-provoking, maddening and uplifting. If you no longer want to walk around with blinders, please read.

Historia
On the outskirts of San Diego, the bodies of two young women are discovered. They have no names, no IDs, but one of the Jane Does holds a note bearing the name, “Alice Vega”. The police and FBI reach out to Vega, a private investigator known for finding the missing. Fearing the possibility of a human trafficking ring, Vega enlists the help of her one-time partner, former cop Max “Cap” Caplan. Despite a case with so few leads, Alice Vega is a powerful woman whose determination is matched only by her intellect, and she will stop at nothing to find the Janes’ killers.

Historia
What’s in a name? A lot. The name Tinaca, for example, has been passed down in the Jones family for generations of women. In fact, the Joneses name a Tinaca every other generation, to let the name breathe a little. To let each Tinaca shine. And shine is exactly what Tinaca Jones intends to do.

Crazy funny!
Revisado: 01-15-20
If profanity doesn’t offend you, this will make your day. Outrageously funny, I could listen to a series of Tinaca Jones rehashing any incident. More, more, more!

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Comedic, Awakening, and Heartfelt
Revisado: 08-03-18
This story had everything a good book could have. It was funny, enlightening and heartfelt. I found myself laughing throughout the book, realizing similarities between South Africa and America, and crying at the end. I will definitely require my daughter to read it as she will be able to see what I saw and more. His reading of his story was phenomenal and I’m so glad this book was recommended to me.
